Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I sanded the dents and around them on my '67 cab and C10srule put bondo on dents that could not be popped out.

The repairs looks great.

Next weekend we will finish sanding the cab and front clip.

It is nice to have the truck running again so we don't have to push it in and out of the garage.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Finished painting it and put the side mirrors on, the headlights are out because we have to replace them.

We had to notch out a small piece of the fender well to have the lines clear for the power steering gearbox.

We got the power steering pump mounted in with a few of our custom brackets that we had to make, but it definitely works extremely well. We might have to get another radiator hose because it looks like it's slightly touching the belt. And, I put a chrome oil breather on, a new air filter, and fuel filter.

This is the ground wire that kept giving me my brake light problems and all I had to do was clean it and replace the screw and every light works now.

Post Re : Power Steering Hoses

That radiator hose is too short . not to mention the crappo accordion typ .

Those P.S. hoses are wrong too , the corect ones are bent differently and clear the inner fenderwell easily .

All these parts are available cheaply @ Rock Auto.com

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

VWnate1 - Yeah, when I get paid on Friday, we're gonna get a different and longer radiator hose. And, everything works fine with the lines, maybe ill replace them with the ones from rock auto when I get paid.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I have been fighting with my Vortec 454, been having low power and high fuel consumption issues, I am thinking it is my MAP sensor, going to go get one tomorrow and see if it fixes it.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I tried to put the freshly coated front upper control arms back together with the new cross shafts and bushings. The bushings would bottom out on the shaft before tightening up on the arm, so when installed, the rotation is on the arm threads instead of the greasable shaft threads. Ugh....If I understand these correctly, the bushing should lock down on the control arm. The shaft is centered because the bushings are tight on it, and there is equal gap between the hex ends and the control arm....

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I removed my Barden rear bumper (the thing must weigh 75 lbs!) and pulled apart the tailight wiring to get the tailights to work. Anyone in NorCal wanna trade a bigass Barden bumper for a stock smoothie bumper???

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Nate, looks like it is an 8cyl tach.

P/N even says it's an 8 cylinder

Just wish I knew why it reads off so bad.

Post Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Phooey ~

Thanx for trying anyway .

Back to the Jaguar SMITH'S gauge I guess .

Looking at the corroded PC there , I imagine it's just a matter of taking some serious time to disassemble the entire dash binnacle and ever so carefully hand polish each and every connection , especially where the MPC plugs in ~ those female contacts are usually brown and they need to be shiny copper colored to have accurate gauges ~ I've done several of these now and the improvement in fuel gauge accuracy and ilumination is amazing .

However , it's very easy to ruin the PC if you're rough on it when polishng .

Also , you'll need to schlepp on down to SEARS or where ever and buy some thin ignition wrenches so you can hold the inner nuts from turning as you loosen the outer nuts on the PC , as soon as they twist , the delicate PC's mylar is ruined...

Adding a ground wire from the binnacle to the cab's frame is always wise as is replacing the usually gone missing braided ground straps from engine to cab , engine to frame , cab to frame , core support to frame and so on ~ try this , your headlights will *instantly* be white at night and your battery will charge up faster too....

All these gaugse work on milliamps so anything that hinders current flow , makes them balky and inaccurate .
