Almost forgot... Also, mounted the grill (still has the original factory T3 headlights) and parking lights.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

painted one of my new wheels black, and one silver (leaning towards black), you have to imagine the P245 60 15 T/A's (blackwall out), the chrome beauty rings, and center caps.

They are, as I have learned, late 70's to early 80's 4WD wheels.

Changed my headlight switch, and put the new knob/rod in.

Then drove the kid to soccer, lost 6-4.... but she had fun!

Thanks for the input, I will go with black to start. Have a line on some beauty rings, going to have a look at them this week. Still hunting for centre caps.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

After 13 years of owning it, I finally decided to try and either sell or trade my '65. It's time for a new project! I replaced my last Harley with an '06 Road King and spend more time riding than working on the truck... so it's going on the block. Either a sale or trade !

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Got her old U-joints pulled out, as well as the old center support bearing. New bearings and U-joints reinstalled, and hopefully tomorrow before work I will have all the time I need to get them reinstalled so she will be driveable. After a several month long battle with DMV and my insurance company I finally got the new registration tags in the mail today, so she is once again legal to drive on the road (over 5 months since I paid the renewal fee....). I HATE DMV!!!!!!!!! Other than all that, getting her road worthy for a '65 and earlier car/truck/bike, and burlesque show in Carson City this weekend....

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Got my 66 wheel painted the other day. I sandblasted it. Wont do that again. Made it way to rough and it exposed some of the steel core. The next one i will sand only. However i did clear coat it and it feels very smooth. Just looks rough. I am worried how long it will hold up to dirty hands and UV. We will see!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Nice steering wheel....regarding restoring them, is a special paint used to hold up to the contant handling? Maybe wrap it in a nice grip cover to prevent rubbing off the paint? What steps are taken for durability?

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Dropped it off at my guys house so he can go thru the rear brakes, replace a few fuel lines and change the rear axle fluid...

It's the first night it hasn't been at my house in over 2 years... And one of the first times I haven't been doing the wrenching. I just don't have the time right now...

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

My son's High School had a car show today and he asked me to bring the 63' 4x4 up. We bought it from a kid's family who is in his auto shop class...It does not look any different on the outside but I completely prpainted the engine and bay while I had it all torn apart to make it driveable...Got lots of praise for the motor and the fact it was driveable...On a side note my son's 67' Pontiac Lemans took best in class...his first trophy!
