Re: What did you do to your truck today!
"Finished" putting in the new dash...and new glove box door, thanks to a great deal from a Forum Member. Made my new SPI decal and "stuck it".
That was after threading in the new M & H under-dash harness...simple and smooth install. Looks like the "new" (reclaimed from the parts stash) fuel gauge is gonna work. Can't say why....One of those deals that since you're working on so many ends of the thing, and EVERYTHING has to work together for the proper end result, I have no idea why it works now. The suspected "pinning" was okay in the plug for the new printed circuit. New plug (M and H). New ..tested...sensor/float (Summit). New wire to the tank (Magwa). New...tested...fuel gauge (70's GM from the stash). New Fuse Box (M &H). I dunno! If it didn't work, I'd really be scratching my head. News at 11. How's this for an SPI? Bet it will confuse someone down the road....

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
New shoes for the winter, tore out most of the dash so I can put the speakers and radio in, and made a few sets of spare keys. Always nice to have more than one set around.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
We picked up a wind shield from a local glass company today for my '67 swb stepper and we installed it. Mostly it was my son and twin grandsons. I did help now and then, but left the hard work to the youngsters.
Installing the windshield was touch and go at times, but with patience and much effort we got the job done. Yesterday we put in the rear window, the headlights and park lights.

I checked my anti freeze and pulled my battery out and parked it. Winter is basically here. So it's hibernation time for my truck.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Installed the aluminum radiator, filled the fluids, started it with the new heads and carb and burned some rubber. Man it felt good to finally go up the road after a year and a half of working on this thing.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Worked on trying to get the electrical gremlin that is haunting my truck isolated. I cut about 25' of burnt or halfa$$'ed wiring out from under the bed and dash to finally get both taillights, brakelights and blinkers working
Now I have to get the front wiring figured out Did I mention I hate electrical work!!! |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Cab is off, the guys are cleaning and prepping the frame for paint!
I went with the Detroit tru track and will run 3:73gears. I was able to score a built 700r4 transmission so the guy will move the cross member back to accommodate. The fuel tank is being relocated from behind the seat to under the bed. More pics after sand blasting is completed Posted via Mobile Device

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I installed the cam bearings on my 468 BB that will be going in my 70. I am ordering new connecting rod and sending them to the machine shop to balance the rotating assy. Can't wait for next spring.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Picked up my rebuilt cylinder head and ordered up a passel of parts from NAPA , they should be in this morning so I'm off to pick them up and maybe yank the old head off , it's been running on five cylinders mostly this week so I'm keen to have a look ~ I just hope the pistons , cylinders & rings are O.K. .
It's drizzling here in La La Land , how else could it be when I finally have a day off to work on my poor old truck ? .

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
replaced my lugnuts on the front end.
seems like a weird thing to do. unless you know this. new wheels required longer lug studs. longer lug studs caused the acorn nut lugnuts to bottom out. so. new lug nuts it is. i really don't want my wheels to fall off.
