Who did you buy from? Will those Ridetech shocks fit any lowered truck or are they specific to Ridetech's suspensions?

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I brought my truck home finally. Got the garage cleaned up so she would fit. It's a 72 Cheyenne Super long bed. Took the old seat cover off to reveal the houndstooth seats. As soon as I saw them it brought back so many memories of those seats itching my legs while sitting on them. Me in my 80's shorts complaining to my dad that they itched. Haha.
Also put some new to me rims and tires on it. Getting excited again about working on it. After taking to a forum member on the phone about selling it, he talked some sense into me. Thanks Greg.
As you can see from the Bergstrom AFB sticker, the last time this truck was a daily driver was around 20 years ago.

This!
My dad's 68 is fighting me to be a decent truck. But worth every dollar so far.

Post Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Pops rode in my truck a few times before he died, he said it was nice, I don't plan to sell it .

I wish I'd had the opportunity to get some of the cool old cars he owned back in the 1950's and 1960's : 1937 Bentley St. James Coupe, 195? Mercedes 600, others I no longer recall .

I haven't done anything but drive it to the grocery store last night for milk. It may sound stupid, but I enjoy clicking that high beam switch on the floor instead of clicking the stalk on the column.

Put on new battery cables and tested the lights. Most work. I'm going on to next step: starting the engine.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Been daily driving my '67 for the past 10 days or so. Big grin is about t be gone now that the rain's a comin' so I'll have to put her back in the shop and go back to the normal DD.

My 4 year old has been enjoying the ride up front in the big girl seat too ( thanks to the 3 point belts I installed her seat fits safely in there now )!

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I was experiencing some intermittent popping on hard acceleration, so I decided to install a Pertronix 1181LS. It has lobe sensing, so no ring to mount below the rotor. It took less than 20 minutes, including R&R the distributor and setting the timing. I did find out that my points mounting screws were loose, but no more popping and now it starts instantly. BTW, I drive it almost daily.

Rallys add to any truck. Now take that front bumper off and run it over to Alberta Plating and get Monty to chrome it and that will make your truck standout. Just kidding but it does make difference.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I had Alberta plating quote. They wanted $600 to chrome it. I can get a repop for a third of the price....This is my dilemma... Too bad they chard so much to dip it in chrome. I will likely have to go with an LMC repop...

He did mine front and back , on the pictured truck, for 400 in January 2015. I gues he is the only one doing chrome in the West so he has bumped his prices. If you get a repop dont tighten the bolts too much or it'll bend the bumper

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Today I brought my new-to-me 1968 fenders to my house and piled those onto my queen-sized bed. I also changed the truck's oil and put on a new filter. I removed the old hoses, cleaned the water necks, and bought all new hoses.

Temp gauge needle fell off in the 70s. Located it in the bottom of the cluster. Squeezed the barrel and was able to press it on the shaft.

Before

Before close.

After close

After...

Its amazing how much difference a little florescent orange can do to freshen up a tired cluster.
