Re: Sat pics(10-11) A stolen truck and a hot car.
That car is hot. It's smoking!
The for sale sign on the trucks looks to be $3k. He quoted you a lower price, and then you told him what you heard you could buy it for, so I am gonna say $1800. Around here I couldn't let that truck leave my driveway for less than $4500. BTW..You are one hell of a brother. You go out and find your brother a great truck at a great price, and then pay for it. Dang, we all need brothers like that! Good find Asa.

So, after reading all the posts.............what was the price? In AZ that truck would sell for $5000 as is.

Re: Sat pics(10-11) A stolen truck and a hot car.
Lot's of good guesses guys! First off, I've looked at a lot of trucks like this and I've done my best to try and help my friends find trucks and parts at a good deal. I've seen the prices of these things run the line from way high to dirt cheap. This isn't the cheapest truck I've ever seen but I really believe it's gotta be one of the best deals I've found. I could have bought it myself and doubled my money within a week. Instead I tried to find someone that wanted it to keep and personalize it to make their own.
Before I come off with the final price let me give you a bit more on the background on this deal. The owner bought it about 6 years ago in pretty much tip top shape. I saw it right after he bought it and it was pretty slick. He added the March serpentine pulleys and brackets (close to $900ish if I'm not mistaken) and flowmasters and drove it for a while. About two years ago he added the new carb, distributor, cam and lifters. After that is when the fuel line ruptured and he had the small fire under the hood that scorched the paint. He never could really get it to run right and started to drive it less and less. He eventually bought a Harley and parked the truck. It was about this time that he priced it to one of my friends for $9000. Obviously not a good deal at this point. Well time goes on and it's just sitting next to his house in the same spot where I photographed it. He's not on a main street that gets a lot of traffic and the truck was actually behind his house and really only visible from a side street. He said he threw the for sale sign on it quite some time ago and had dropped the price to $4500. That would have been a deal if the engine wasn't making a racket. However it sounded like dammit and nobody would even make him an offer. Well apparently sometime in the last month he dropped the price to $3000. That's probably close to what it's worth if you thought the engine was bad and you were going to have to replace it straight away. Well, in the meantime he goes and buys a nearly new Cadillac and then a tree falls on his house damaging the roof and the electrical. We have now created a motivated seller! Keep in mind he now has a Caddy and a Harley and he works at one of the better paying places in town. This guy isn't destitute and I didn't take advantage of him. I went over to his place this past Thursday and he priced it to me for $2500. I told him I heard he had said he would let it go for $2000. He turned around and looked at the truck and then looked at his house and said "yeah...show me some cash and you can have it for that". As many trucks like this that I've seen for sale I knew it was a bargain even if we couldn't get it to run and an outright steal if it ran! You guys already know we got it running tip top again in less than an hour. If it was my truck, like it is right now, I'd have to say it was a $4000-$5000 truck. I just really doubt that I'll ever find another in this good of shape for this kind of price. Anyone who thinks that they can find one as nice for less in this part of the country...should go buy it or tell me where it is and I'll go buy it! My brothers good for the cash and I know that he would do the same for me if I needed it. Besides he only needed half of it, he already had the other half. He said he would have had it all but he had just sent double payments in on his car and his bike. Besides, Christy isn't worried about collecting her cash... |

Re: Sat pics(10-11) A stolen truck and a hot car.
When I first went over to look at the truck and the owner wasn't home I had laid down under it to check for rot in the outer fender under the battery. Everything looked solid but I did spot something shiny in the factory drain holes of the fender. After my brother bought the truck and got it to my place I reached in there and fished out a craftsman socket and wrench. It just keeps getting better! I just went out to get the numbers off of the pad on the front of the block so I could find out what size the engine is. Apparently the block has been decked. The pad is just as slick as can be with no numbers.

Noticed that the flywheel is externally balanced. Got the numbers off the back of the block on the drivers side 3951511. According to www.mortec.com it's a 70-73 400.

Re: Sat pics(10-11) A stolen truck and a hot car.
I think you'd be lucky to find a truck that nice that the owner didn't want 10 or 12 grand for. Not that it's worth 10 or 12 but ever since they started showing the Barrett Jackson auctions on Speed everybody seems to think their stuff is worth twice what it really is. I still think you got a $5000 truck for $2000 though. That was an awesome deal on a sweet looking ride. Slam that bad boy and everyone will be drooling over it

Re: Sat pics(10-11) A stolen truck and a hot car.
I spent some more time piddlin with the truck today. The entire bottom of the cab is painted black. It also looks like the frame has been sandblasted and painted as well. Someone put a lot of time in to building this truck at some point.
On a side note just for fits and giggles......The name that was on the Texas title is.....Jesus! No seriously, It was titled to someone named Jesus and then they sold it to someone named Juan. My brother said he might try to find a Buddy Christ statue for the dash. |

Sweet deal, Asa! I'm looking forward to seeing it lowered and in some of the famous "see ten" poses.
Wow that M4/M203 looks really big with Christy holding it.
