Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music

I've been dying to jump in, but I've been swamped lately

We moved from SoCal in '72, when I was 13, so everything from before the move.

Hmmm...been a lot of great vids posted already. I don't think I'd really disagree with any, in the context of then. Oh, first, let's take a minute to remember Peter Tork.

https://youtu.be/ngDQ7fPcKbQ

https://youtu.be/sbY195bMw5o

Ya Ya, the pre-fab four. They were huge, though. And the stuff they actually did themselves stands up.

Of course, the first full album I ever bought was by the actual Fab Four. Truth is, I snuck my older sister's brand new copy of Abbey Road to a dance and it got scratched and I had to replace it

https://youtu.be/oolpPmuK2I8?list=PL...vopMJt__x-y5mD

Still my favorite Beatles album.

But I was always all over the place. With 3 older sisters, I got everything from the 50's on. And dad with his country and mom with her big band and showtunes, I got the full range. Top 40 was huge, Motown. I still listen to a lot of old 60's soul. Too many to list right now, for sure.

Peter Tork. Rest in peace.

In '72, I was listening to whatever my folks were listening to Didn't have much of a choice....I was 3 and ITunes hadn't been invented yet.

I do fondly remember really liking The Monkeys as their songs were pretty upbeat compared to whatever my folks were listening to. I think we drove them absolutely crazy singing those songs over and over.

This is not a old song but recently heard it and has a old school vibe to it. I did not expect such emotion in a song from a guy called Jelly Roll. Never judge a book by its cover

My 55 GMC Flatbed has never had a radio in it. Hard to believe all those years of hauling hay with no tunes.
This song makes me want to take it for a spin.

Ripping of songs was mentioned earlier. How about slightly alter music and changing lyrics? I like both

Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music

It's the weekend and no action here. I mean it's Saturday night! Am I the only one fascinated with connecting these trucks with the great music of the times... as well as all te great things connected to this era? I feel alone here, which I'm totally cool with. But jeezy peezy c'mon! Ya buncha one post wonders . I always noticed looking at car mags these guys with the magazine quality cars seemed to come up short in the music department. In the credits for what the car had it was always cheapass stereos like Kraco or Realistic. I never got that. Can't a guy be a motorhead AND appreciate great music, too? Maybe it's that most are young bucks who just don't get it. I dunno, but I'm happy enjoying my world regardless.

I'm in agreement with pretty much everything posted so far. in the late sixties, The Chili Kitchen was the hangout, and to this day I'm not sure the juke box had anything on it but Led Zeppelin. I had CCR, Johnny Rivers, Linda Ronstadt and whatever other 8 tracks in my car.

I noticed you weren't participating in the music threads and I know you have a gee-tar. I thought you didn't like what I was playing and didn't want to be friends

I go to YouTube in new tab

In the search box enter the band/artist and song (or just do artist and let the tube show various songs

YouTube shows a list and you pick which one

You'll have videos shown to choose. Right click your choice

Click "Copy Link Location"

Come back to the tab with this site and right click

Click "Paste"

You'll have the link in your thread, but if you take the "s" off of "https" it will
show the video pictures thingy
like this:

Tim, I have a 1968 Gibson B-25 laying right here beside me, and I have an Ibanez acoustic electric and a Fender Stratocaster with a 200 watt amp at the shop. I make noise there sometimes.

I can't play a guitar, but I do.

Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music

I have barely ever tried to play guitar and I still really want to learn. I did play drums, but you kinda need a band for that. I grew up around guitar playing, my dad and three sisters not to mention their boyfriends, my dad's friends, and mine. My dad was a HS teacher and in the '60s the school's folk music club would gather at our farm. My dad and the shop teacher (a childhood idol of mine) had students in the wood shop at night making guitars. I had a 12-string f-hole Rickenbocker (Like Roger McGuinn's) but someone my sister let see it stole it. I am thinking to break into the guitar by exploiting my good rhythm on the bass. I told a friend this and he has a friend who is looking to sell an acoustic 1970 Gretch 4-string bass guitar. I'm excited. It's something classic that I can play with any acoustic music, unplugged rock, or at home along with the stereo.

The Youngbloods made some great music. And good job on the post-a-linkin'

All good music for sure. I didn't know that about "Wish You Were Here". I didn't know any of Pink Floyd's songs had meaning . I grew up with the early Pink Floyd tht was from this era, before their better known tunes
I thought of another iconic tune, or tunes, of the era

Later came
