Re: Finally my 49 s10 frame swap ls1/t56

Did a compression check on the engine today 165 all the way on passenger side and 175 on 2 and 165 on the other 2 on driver side I'm guessing it's still all good and going to go ahead and make it look nice paint new mid length headers and new intake mani

Yeah Photobuckets new rules really screwed up everyones threads. The TCI kit required relocating the perches but it came with a perch for a rear end axle tube that was 3 inches if I remember right. The 8.8 ford rear had a slightly larger diameter tube so I bought some other perches and welded those on in the location TCI wanted theirs. Everything was the same except the diameter of the radius where the perch sits on the tube.

Here is what It looked like installed before I blew it apart to paint the frame. Aside from the location of your leafs for the S10 set up I think it should be similar. I hope this helps.

Yes Thank You I had bought rear end with sway bar now I gotta remove it and mounting brackets since it hits with the stock s10 perch brackets I had to oblong the holes to have it fit with the 3" U bolts I'll post pictures when I get home. might shorten the sway bar and see if I can reuse it.

Re: Finally my 49 s10 frame swap ls1/t56

So hit a stump on the road yesterday after cleaning engine and prepping it for new intake manifold that I got for free when I got my 92 sierra so didn't think of checking it make sure it would work with the 94 5.7 since 87-95 all the same right? so I go to test fit before adding the rtv silicone on outer edges and find out I have a 96+ intake manifold for the tru vortec engine. well guess now just clean and paint old manifold and put it back on unless I can sell the one I got and get one for the engine I got. Anyone have one that would like to trade

Re: Finally my 49 s10 frame swap ls1/t56

Had time to finally put the intake manifold back on after cleaning and paint and installed some mid length headers. Cleaned the garage finally and moved everything back and to the sides to make room for the 49s body parts finally going to strip her down so I can throw all the s10 body parts on that frame to scrap it all in 1 trip parts have been up on craigslist for a while now with not much luck and wife already asking about driveway parking lol

Re: Finally my 49 s10 frame swap ls1/t56

Finally got front end off and the bed off the truck hopefully am able to have some time to get the cab off before the weekend so I can do the same with the S10. The s10 just needs cab removal and all smaller components I plan to reuse like pedal assembly, wiring harness, seat belts if they reuseable on the AD. And what ever I see worth keeping.

I'll be interested to see the mileage you get on the Eastwood 135. I ended up upgrading from a Lincoln 140 to a Hobart 190 after having some issues with the welder not penetrating enough for frame mounts.

Re: Finally my 49 s10 frame swap ls1/t56

Had some time today to remove the seat cushions, I had already removed them once before and had sanded frame and painted it looks almost brand new. I will most likely be reusing the bench seat since cushions still feel cumfortable removed the seat frame as well. Hopefully will have some time tomorrow to remove the gas tank. Will most likely be leaving the gas tank neck in place for looks maybe not gotta try and find a way to remove the gas cap since it's locked.

Re: Finally my 49 s10 frame swap ls1/t56

if its a 49 it will use shackles in the rear, you can get the shackle bolts on the frame side and just leave them hanging from the cab till you get the gas tank out.

nice progress!

Re: Finally my 49 s10 frame swap ls1/t56

So Horrible news, woke up 3am to a evacuation notice grabbed the essentials wife n my 5 month old and left everything else behind. Sonoma County on fire I'm on the south west area of Santa Rosa, the fire had already taken over the north west area and no signs of it being under control with heavy winds. The news says 20 acre fire not counting surrounding areas napa county, hoping they able to get it under control hopefully won't get to my house and since we barely finished all the renovations and started the truck build buying new tools. Wish the best to all people living near me and hope everyone staying safe and managed to get away from the fire.

Re: Finally my 49 s10 frame swap ls1/t56

Thank You, Marc and Jim they just lifted the evacuation in my area so I'm back home besides house and cars covered in ashes were good but stuck indoors for now due to smoke and smell. Some of my family members weren't so lucky the fire did reach their homes or just left powerless and gassless.Offered my home to them for as long as they need it but they haven't came around so will see if they take me up on the offer.

Re: Finally my 49 s10 frame swap ls1/t56

I was able to get some work done on the 49. Was able to get the cab off and will be cutting the side step today also managed to get the brake pedal/ bracket and gas pedal off the s10. I also pulled the interior harness and moved the master brake cylinder to the side since ill be reusing that as well. Having a friend come tomorrow to take all the metal I don't need so he will most likely be taking the AD frame and s10 bed claims he cant take the s10 cab so ill have to get rid of that my self.
