Re: OMG, what a lead I got.
I don't know your financial situation, don't care and it isn't any of my business but I'd suggest making sure I had the cash readily available when I went to look at it. Nothing frys a sellers butt more than having a prospective buyer try to cut a deal and then say "ok I have to go see if I can raise the money I'll be back in a couple of days".
I can't even guess what he wants for it but from here that truck looks like it would be in the running for a trophy in the Unmolested original class at any major Chevy truck show. Quite an impressive find from this view. |

Re: OMG, what a lead I got.
That truck is as perfect as you could find. I have looked this truck over an under. I sold him the full hubcaps for it about 4 years ago. FYI he is really hard to deal with as he is/was a good friend of mine but our friendship went south due to a bad deal between he an I.
As the others said the only thing I would worry about is the fact that the truck has sat for a long time but I do know that the original owner had three cars like this one the he all had in a garage all there life. The guy (my friend) that has it now is a mechanic and his dad was befor him an they both worked on this guys (original owner of truck) cars all there life. Its a family shop thats in my town. Really good people just really REALLY hard to deal with. I do know the truck still runs as they move it around the shop from time to time and it was driven to the shop by the owners son. |

Re: OMG, what a lead I got.
Forgot to mention that it has a wood bed that still has the original overspray on it. I also believe it was sold in my town and was just a one owner truck until now. If I remember right it was sold at a dealer called ROAK CHEVROLET and still has the dealer sticker on it.

Re: OMG, what a lead I got.
Everything looks original (except the hub caps) to me. The Cheyenne package listed as Custom Sport Truck would have woodgrain door panels, no glove-box woodgrain, and no dash woodgrain. The engine being listed as 396 versus later listed as 400 is correct. I have not seen the shock option shown before (what is it?).
NICE FIND!!!!! Last edited by DANTIP; 01-29-2009 at 05:12 PM. |

Re: OMG, what a lead I got.
He doesn't neccessarily know what it's worth,he just knows it was worth more than he was owed. It's a very nice survivor and would be a nice stock unmolested show-er.I would ask what he thinks he has to have out of it and offer less to see if he bites. He may like everyone else be feeling the recession and want cassh instead of a truck.

Re: OMG, what a lead I got.
Trust me he knows what its worth. He has several classic cars that are fully restored to the T and I me extremly correct restorations. But this truck is 100% stock (unrestored). As for the hubcaps that are on it I also thought they were wrong thats why he bought a set of full wheel caps from me.

If I remember correct this truck and a car were given to him by the original owners son as he didnt have a need for them. Why? I dont know. I know he took them as trade for some work but not all the work. It was more of a... You always worked on these for my dad and he left them to me so I dont need them so since your a friend of the family I will just pass them on to you.... Thats about all I got from the new owner when I hung out with him. |

Re: OMG, what a lead I got.
Ask him what he wants for it. Then you can work your magic, but it doesnt smell like a steal to me. I hope you get it-

What a survivor... keep us posted.
Be honest with him, ask him what he wants out of it, and then go from there.

Re: OMG, what a lead I got.
I was talking to his son, like you said, and I asked him just that. Told him the range was 7k-12k depending on alot, including the market (which does suck right now)
If you can get a better answer, by all means, let me know. I wouldnt be surprised if he ebayed it. |

Re: OMG, what a lead I got.
Like I said kinda hard people to deal with. This is why I never even let on that I was interested in the truck when he got it as I knew he would want to retire from the sale. IMO $15,000 at the most. Its kinda a plane jane truck but just cool that its 100% original.
