Re: 1987 R10 Scottsdale Diesel

Bed is back in its place

Maybe it lasts few moments without rusting away

There is a little problem though, somehow it doesnt line up correctly as can be seen at these pics

I think that the truck the bed came from has been wrecked as the old bed did sit properly.
also the bottom of the left side of the bed is way too up

Any ideas what to do?
Otherwise a great feeling, its time to pop some beer cans

Re: 1987 R10 Scottsdale Diesel

I made the holes in the frame bigger and got the bed lined with the cabin. I also got the bottom of the left side bed stretched out, it also sits properly to the sill line.

Doing some very impressive work there buddy. Oh and the things used to tighten hoses are called hose clamps Keep up the good work and it is good to see a nice square body over there.

Great job on the truck. Must be a pain, and lots of $$ to work on a square accross the pond.

Re: 1987 R10 Scottsdale Diesel

Thanks guys! today its getting the epoxy primer and hopefully at the end of the week top coats of red.
Some parts are very easy to source for square over here, such as repair panels are easily achieved. These were very popular here back in the eighties, they even imported these few years when they were new and they were sold almost before they came! So parts for brakes and balljoints etc. are easy, but side trims and that sort of things are difficult, and have to be ordered from lmc or such. And rust is an issue here, so every used body part is most likely as bad as your own..
But this one is going strong back on the road!

Painted!
Now we still have to wet sand and polish it to get all the dust and insects from the surface.. But its red again!!

And of course a little accident, just the tailgate to paint, it slipped from straps and dropped about 2 feet to its corner.. I got the corner straight but didnt notice it got a quite dent also..

Assembling the front end today:

I know that the mudflaps dont look good, but the are needed here, as I have to drive gravel roads also..
I found original "GM" Mudflaps for the rear, as they were ordered by law back in the eighties, so importer had to put them, I think they look good!

Re: 1987 R10 Scottsdale Diesel

Its slowly coming ready.. It needs to be inspected by the DMV, as it has to be made every year here, and this is not inspected in 2 years.
There is a little bit air in the brake lines as I had to change the brake hoses, and somehow the rear line doesnt want to bleed properly.
I greased the balljoints, and I have to change oil cooler hoses, but otherwise its almost ready, only rear bumpber is still to be mounted.
I went to my local tire shop today to get the BF Goodrich 235/75/15 tires that I had to be transferred to the original Rally wheels that came with the car, but they had busy day, so I can get them in the evening. Then I have to make one order to the LMC truck, to get the new side trim, old was too bad to put back on just painted car, and also I need new shiny rings for the rally wheels, I was thinking that 3" wide would look great for 8x15 rallys, right?

I think the bed came up very nice, any nicer and I could not use it

I also bought better emlems from ebay.

Front bumpber is not perfect, but will do for now.

That is looking like it rolled off the showroom floor, and all done out in the open air, I love it. it will look very nice with the stock rallies on there. Keep up the great work man!

Thanks man, I really appreciate your comments! Its not build in the open air, I have a roof
I have to say, I am amazed how easy these trucks are to work, parts are easily available even here, and its simple. I can almost bet that this is not going to be my last square body

Its ready for the inspection. I have to concentrate on the interior later, and the rear bumpber could be better, but now I am almost broke and my school starts next week, so, this is how its going to be, maybe next summer more. I´ll put the side trim and trim rings and centre caps for the rallies, but otherwise its going to look like this

Re: 1987 R10 Scottsdale Diesel

Now its inspected and ready to be my daily driver.. Nothing was wrong, brakes were even, balljoints were good, and ofcourse no rust either
They measure smoke at the inspection, 2.5 is a limit, below that and it passes, it was only 0,41 at 3600 rpm.. So its in good order.
Thanks for everyone who commented and wathed for this thread, I will update when there is something to update, but I guess its going to be some time before next update.
