Re: My 72

Welcome to the board from Maryland! That is a neat truck. Goodluck with it and I hope you can trace the history on it. Sorry to hear about the damage.

Re: My 72

Here are the pics of the damage. Yes hayhauler, same truck. Thanks for the link with more photos. The guy I bought it from had sent me some of them already. I have some used parts on order out of FL. Looks like the truck will be getting a complete new bed side but the body shop is saying they can match the patina. Time will tell. Thanks again to all for being so welcoming and helpful. Great bunch of people on here.

Re: My 72

Ouch! how in the world did they do that? It is a very nice truck as is (before the wreck) hopefully you will keep it and treat it right, I think there has been at least 3 owners in the last few months. Guess they liked the looks but not the maintenance?? I think the signage was added in the last few years but it is cool I would leave the finish alone if possible or restore the exterior either way it is a great looking truck and I would love to have it in my driveway!!

Thats what I'm trying to find out, when the signage got put on. As for maintenance, not had it long enough yet to find out what it will take. Truck drives like a dream. Needs a lil tlc here and there, but expected that. I bought the truck for the patina. Gonna keep her the way she is for now. As it gets worse, then we will think bout restoring her.

That had to of come off in the last 6-9 months by my research so far. Thinking very much of getting it put back on and then weather it out to match the rest of the patina.

long story on how we got off the island, but the time there with mary ann was all worth it. im really torn on the wheels. i like the rally look, but the coys actually "work" well on the truck. kinda mix of old and new. so far the public count is more in favor of the coys. time will tell.

If you ever part swap back to the rally's PM me and I will take the Coy's off your hands. But your truck looks great with them I think.

Also welcome from Central Florida! Great truck, you must be one cool cat, I would have been dealing out ass-whoopins (or taking one) when the delivery truck showed up.

Re: My 72

Very cool truck! And love the artwork on the side. I think it is great your trying to find the history, and I would do the same thing. For what it's worth, I like the 20's better. Gives it that mix of old and new school.

Re: My 72

Well, dropped it off at the body shop for the repair tonite finally. Was able to score some very nicely weathered bed trim. Perfect match. Also got an original set of GM mirrors complete set with gaskets and hardware, never opened. Kinda breaks my heart I have to use them. Hopefully in a couple of weeks I will be showing you guys some kick ass photos of the repairs. Also would like to add that this is an absolutely amazing group of people on here and very glad to have found this forum. Thanks everyone

It'll be a shame to see that patina and logos go away. But I'm glad to hear it's getting fixed.

body shop is to recreate the patina on the bed side. going as far as base coating it the green color that was under the blue so when it is "worked" you will see the green that is coming thru on the rest of the truck. found bed trim that is an almost identical match. all weathered just right.
