sport mirrors

I have a 1975 SWB coming out of the body shop and last night the doors came out of the paint booth and almost gave me a heart attack. And I guess I could still have one! My question is this. Are sport mirrors and "dumbos" inter-changeable on how they mount on the door? I forgot to have my cousin (the painter) weld up the two holes on the door where the original "dumbos" mounted before painting. I have already purchased NOS sport mirrors and want to use them. He thought that the sport mirrors would bolt up with the two exsisting holes. The doors came from a donor that must have had factory trailering mirrors at one time because they had a lower third hole, but we did fill that one prior to painting. Any insight would greatly be appreciated.
