Re: And another PB install in the books

Jason,

I had to look back at the beginning to see who started this post and what it was about

It has morphed into something entirely different and you don't seem to mind.
You're awesome dude!

Your install looks great - I like the silver frame. What color are you gonna do the DM? At the moment I'm thinking my frame will be black and all the custom suspension pieces will be a medium blue (truck will be light blue) just to give some contrast and a little custom touch.
All I need to do now is get started. Is there a procrastonator smiley? I can't seem to find one.

How's your build coming along? Any new progress?

It's all fun and games. I am working on something cool for the DM, maybe black like the ART arms with the PB letters in the silver and some type of a silver flame pattern on the front,
A little progress, I now have the ART arms on the front and bags mounted up, but I need to sell my drop spindles, and get a set of stock or I ill lay frame about 2-3 inches into the dirt. I am trying to figure out what I want to do with the rear so I can get the motor and tranny put in, and get my angle for the rear end.

I figured you'd just powder-coat the DM pieces to match your frames current color. You could do the R&P notches as a bolt-in to keep from having to mess up the coating on the frame from welding (other than the cutting/drilling sole holes). That's what I'm prob going to do. I'll weld some 1/4" plate to the notch, drill holes in the plate to bolt it to the frame, insert a second plate on the inside of the frame rail & sandwich the original frame w/the new stuff. It will provide the necessary clearance while adding extra support @ that area (& allow all the DM pieces to be powder coated).

How far off of 75 are you? My brother is east of 75 @ Bethany (?... I believe that's the exit anyway).

Ah, running a 4wd frame huh?

That's what I was going to do but with a lot of persueding from Nathan I decided to go with the DM C4 so I bought a 2wd frame and need to get it shortened. I think it's gonna give me the handling I really want and get me nearly as low as I would have been with the original DM.

I'm just having trouble getting all my C4 pieces. Supposedly the last of them are on there way though.

Funny, I am also off of 75 and Bethany, Bethany and Malone to be exact. I am not sure yet what I am going to do. I am not worried about the welds since I have already got areas that need to be touched up anyway. But that is a good Idead anyway since I don't have a welder and it is a pain to weld this stuff with no welder. I have not figured out yet if I am going to PC the DM installed or in pieces. It took a few good whacks to get it in there, and I don't want to tear op the coating, but at the same time, I do not like the way the PC looks on un welded seams.....

No, I am an original 2wd frame.

Hmmm, he must have changed the layout since I was looking at it or you're using a smaller tire than most.
Seems like I remember a 29" tall tire and dropped spindles would put the frame rails on the ground.

Very cool that you have a original 2wd though. I got tired of looking for a 2wd and decided to just convert my Blazer.

I do have 29" tires, but Nate had told me when I got the DM that I would need stock height spindles. I have a 3" cup in there right now that I won't work with the arts.

Re: And another PB install in the books

Well there ya have it.

Either I'm not remembering correctly or he changed it to put it on the ground without having to go with the dropped spindles.

I'd certainly go with what he said over what I remember.

"I have a 3" cup in there right now that I won't work with the arts."
Maybe that has something to do with it?

Yeah, I put the cups in there just to keep the frame from being on the ground. With the bags fully deflated, the frame is about .5" off the ground.. So when I get stock spindles, and no cups the frame will be on the ground.

Guys,

I apoligize for the wrong info in the above post. You were correct, drop spindles on a 29" tall tire will lay the frame. I have a set of tires on there right now that are not 29", so I got messed up. stock spindles and a 29" tire will let the frame lay 1.5" off the ground.

Sorry again for mis-leading anyone.

No worries man.
I wore out the cellular waves between Mesa and Little Rock talking to Nathan about the differences between the two DM's and what the advantages and disadvantages of each system was so I was pretty sure about the height but in that time I also learned that Nathan is constantly improving his product and has planned to have a seperate 2wd and 4wd conversion. I just figured that since I had ordered my DM C4 that he had changed the original.
