Re: Plus Five

OK,
I'm going to jump around a little.

Eventually I'll try to cover everything.

The rear end is simple. New leaf springs from Eaton Detroit.
3" drop and softer. They have the specs for the original springs.
Bilstein shocks on mounts that I made.

Late 70's camaro/firebird rear end. Sway bar setup I made
using mid 90's camaro sway bar.

Re: Plus Five

The rear end was reworked by a local shop. New gears ( 3;42 ) and
new eaton posi and new bearings and seals etc. Brushed on tractor
enamel after they were done. They dipped it and it was perfectly clean.

The brakes are 1998 to 2002 Camaro that have parking brake thru the
disc type setup. I made the brackets and backing plates.

Re: Plus Five

The cab was extended 5 inches so the frame and running boards were
also extended five inches.
I did the frame extension about under the middle of the cab.

Re: Plus Five

the running boards needed 5 inch extensions, plus a rework
of the curved area that meets the rear fender.
I also reworked the bottom braces for strength and
to allow easier installation.

Re: Plus Five

Very nice details with the body and chassis. The caliper brackets had to take some time to figure out.

The engine mounts on the frame are interesting too. Will they fit a factory engine mount?

Re: Plus Five

What's the details on your paint color? I think it looks amazing, but I might be a bit biased - I love red like that!

The engine mounts I used are a corvette type I guess. I ordered them on
the recommendation of the Pace Performance gentleman that sold me
my connect and cruise package.

He said they would be easy to use, and he was right. I just made up those
angle brackets and bolted them thru sleeves that I welded into the boxed
frame area.

It is a Ford color... Ruby Red 2012 - 2017

interior color is a Lexus color...but interior is finished with FLAT clear.
Satin cashmere.

The real work was finding rotors and calipers with the right bolt pattern that
have a parking brake thru the disc. I like that style. I spent a lot of time
on line looking at specs and dimensions. Brakewarehose.com had good info.

Making the bracket was pretty straight forward. I made a pattern from 1/16th
inch aluminum sheet. I used two driver side so I could stagger the mount, one forward, one back. That way I could stagger the shocks to control wheel hop.

Wow, that's pretty crazy. Ford Ruby Red was one of the top 3 choices for my project - I ultimately chose a different color that was real close, but two-stage only. But that Ford color is incredible - great choice!

Here's a quick shot of my hood to compare:

Also crazy because for a time I was considering the Lexus Satin Cashmere for my accent color. You have great taste. Let's get these trucks together at a car show someday!

Yep, exactly - Mitsubishi Ultra Red Pearl. We did put some additional metallic into the paint for some extra "pop" in the sun, but the color works pretty well even with the stock mix. AD trucks look so good in red!

Re: Plus Five

the front suspension is corvette C4

sway bar ends I machined into the original C4 sway bar after I
cut the ends off. I turned the diameter to 1 inch. Original seemed
way too stiff.

I made the arms and the brackets for the A-Arm, and found Ford F150
sway links at Advanced Auto. Bushings were also from Advanced.

the steering rack bracket on the cross member I modified to unbolt to
allow easier servicing of the rack and pinion. It can now be dropped out
the bottom under the engine.

Re: Plus Five

the gas tank was taken out of the cab and moved to the rear.

It is a stainless steel 1949 chevy car tank from "Tanks", and will have
a fill thru the driver side rear fender.

It came set up for LS engine with fuel pump and sending unit flanges.

I made the stainless straps and mounts, as well as the filler door and recess
fill and drain pocket and welded it to the fender.
