Re: How many of these trucks.....
I can think of 5 or 6 within a few miles of me, but for the most part they just sit. My friend has a '68 C-10 big block that's a survivor, and he's said he'd sell it to me someday. His brother bought it new.

Re: How many of these trucks.....
Our trucks are a dime a dozen around here. Lots of em in my small town. I also see lots of them every day while out driving around.

Re: How many of these trucks.....
I grew up on the Texas last near Port lavaca Tx and you don't see many old cars of any type there any more, unless they are bought in from somewhere else. In the 80's and 90's I used to go to the Pate swap meet near DFW area and used to see a lot of 67-72's on car lots. Mostly 71-72, many were Cheyennes. I saw my first super on a lot and didn't know what it was! I never coveted one as I had a 71 el camino Ss at the time and my brothers both had 72 custom 10's, one swb step and the other lwb fleet and I liked mine over theirs!

Re: How many of these trucks.....
Depends what you mean by "these trucks". Road salt & humidity are big enemies here in the mid-atlantic region. Far as C-10 go, there are a few in my area, fleet sides mostly. Far long bed steppers, mine is the only one (NC farm truck survivor) around here. Not surprising since they are the most rare.

Re: How many of these trucks.....
Can't think of any reason why anyone would have kept a ford around all these years. If it didn't rust, meant it was kept inside cause they didn't like driving it? Theres several chevys around here still in service as farm trucks or tow. A few show guys. Only 1 ford I can think of..

Re: How many of these trucks.....
I could not even guess how many there are within 5 miles. Every time I leave my house, I see a new one. There are a few board members close to me.
I am seeing alot of fresh restoration/ customs lately. |

When at local car shows I often get comments how these older trucks in good condition are more rare than muscle cars, even though many more were made. Trucks were as they say ... used, abused, drove hard, and put way wet.

Re: How many of these trucks.....
Counting the 4 at my house, I can think of about 35 in a 10 mile radius of home and when I can get the money, there will be another one or two here at the house!
These range from C/10 - C/60.

Of course I knew by spending time on the site that numerous folks had more than 1 truck (in some cases, many more), but I had really kind of forgotten about that when I posed the question. And we haven't even heard from C10 King yet! Congrats to the multi-owners......keep drive'n up the averages.! |

Re: How many of these trucks.....
In my little circle road hood there's just mine. There is a gorgeous 55 belair down the street and another guy has a really nice 71/72 F100 shortbed. There was a nice 65/66 shortbed at another house, but I think he sold it, haven't seen it in about a year.

Re: How many of these trucks.....
I can think of 4 67 -72's with in 5 miles including my 72. It is funny, when it is time for the Woodward Dream Cruise in Aug, they come out of everywhere just like everything else pre 1972 around here. If you own a nice one where I live, you wan to keep it nice and I noticed a big decline in the ones rolling down the road after gas hit $3.00 + a gallon.
Over in Junction City, OR where my girlfriend lives, people actually drive there trucks and use them. It is not uncommon to see one driving around just about any time of day. There is a company there, (i forgot what they do) that uses 1964-1966 Chevy's for work trucks and have about 12 of them that I counted. it is like going back in time 30 yrs out there and I love it. |
