THANKS RICK!... I looked for this thread last night for a L-O-N-G time. Too old n' dum to find it I guess. There's also an interesting article about the styling on the '67 small back window cab written by one of the GM design guys... can't find it either.... or sometimes my glasses, tools, nuts, bolts, screws, keys, drink, ATM card, wife in the grocery store....

Re: 1967 Only or 60-66 Carry Over?

I'm not sure on the visor clip
the pass visor mustve been a option cause both my low option 67's have the dimples where they would be but no cutouts.
my fleet has a driver arm rest but its a later style an I'm sure it was put on some time ago

both my trucks have the same rearveiw mirror arm but the mirrors themselves are differnt
my step has a chromed back mirror with a square flip up down lever.
the lever on my fleet is a little differnt its square but the lever flips side to side, but it couldve been changed too.

Re: 1967 Only or 60-66 Carry Over?

The vent window knob is a carry over but the glass is one year only, there is one more hole on 67 than the later. If you check LMC they list and show one for 67 and a different glass for 68 up. I have each as well as a real 67 gate and a few other oddities if you guys think pics would be helpful.

What is the bullseye deal on the reverse lights? I had no idea! I have my originals I better take a look to see if they are "original"

Good one on the ext handles I forgot that one.

I have seen some of the C40?? and larger clusters but did not know they had the choke on later years. If I remember correctly they were not notched out for the column but had a casting line where you can use as a guide to cut it for a C10-30.

Lots of good info here guys keep it coming!

I think I have one more: The frame is thicker at the front and causes problems with header clearance, I measured a friends 72 frame and it was almost a 1/4" thinner to allow more room for exhaust? or just saving material?

Re: 1967 Only or 60-66 Carry Over?

frame narrowed out on 68 up to make room for the newly added big block in 68. firewall is shapped different by the bottom of the firewall on 67's as well. in 68 they changed the firewall to make room for the 396 addition. the air vent pull knobs are 67 only. the way the jack handle mounts under the seat i believe is 67 only but may be that way on some 68's.

Ahhhh big block, makes sense. Good info!

What about the one year gas pedal??? I heard that it was a one year piece but my truck did not have one (the plastic pedal piece). Is this a bigfoot legend or real? You guys know?

My steel door panels do NOT have holes for the arm rests either. Just a pretty basic truck, no fancy stuff.

I had no idea on the speedo hash marks either, man I better check that one out. Never heard that one before.

Re: 1967 Only or 60-66 Carry Over?

My seat belts were horridly stained as they were stuffed in the rusty cab corners. So being an idiot after several attempts to clean them I threw them in the trash.

I pressure washed my belts and I was amazed at the dirt that rolled out! They are still mildly stained but they are very clean and very nice and subtle. I neatly packed them away and will work a little harder on them later.

Re: 1967 Only or 60-66 Carry Over?

bullseye lenses were used on 67-70 trucks so not a 67 only thing. the high beam indicators in the speedos were rectangle in the early model years and round in the later years. not sure when the switch occurred. 67 shoulders are hard to find as they mount to the floor with different hardware than 68-72 trucks and are aircraft style buckles and male tongues are shaped different and the dimple on the retainer boots are verticle and the later years the dimple is horizontle. not sure if the verticle dimple is 67 only but the 67 buckles wont fit properly in the boots with horizontle dimples.

Re: 1967 Only or 60-66 Carry Over?

YOU THREW THEM AWAY omg!

I wasnt real sure about the bullseye lenses I find very few of the other lenses any more.

I recently got a opertunity to see a bunch of clusters and parts and I saw that the rectangle high beam holes are located differntly in the hash marks maybe the differance was between 67-68 and the 69-70 but there is two differnt locations for them.

In my defense the steel parts were rusted and the buckles were gone, they were not savable. I need to find some nice blue belts someday.

Sorry I have been slacking on reporting back so here is my contribution for the week. A complete comparison of ash trays coming right up!

Thats ok cause I was stareing at the kid's 67 the other nite and realized omg we gave away the wing windows!

the kid picked up some later nice chrome wing's and deicded to use them and after sitting around for so long the oe one's got put into a free box at a swap meet couple of years ago before we ever knew they were differnt.

somebody got a good deal!

after the stare down and realizeing what happened i could kick myself for having made that comment too you

Re: 1967 Only or 60-66 Carry Over?

Actually, bullseye reverse lenses were on most trucks.Only 71/72 had the waffle pattern.

I am doing the same thing with my '67 GMC project. It's a mild custom that I'm assembling from all my various parts to resemble a '67. Although "using what I have" was supposed to be the pan,I have been buying '67 cues as time has gone by for more '67 vibe. But,because it's a mild custom,I'm not worrying about every little nit pickin' '67-only detail. It started with a '67 GMC grille and Super Custom fenders. I bought an excellent pair of tinted/chrome vent window assemblies and, although I already had a pair of doors primed and mounted,I bought a pair of doors off a '67 GMC with the right trim holes. I have buddy buckets, but will do period correct custom upholstery on those and the door panels. I have '67 seat belts, but also very nice '68-ups that I may use instead (I have my reasons). I have the '67 door handles, which were also used on cars. I just did find and buy a 67/68 tailgate. I was either going to use a large letter or do a custom idea I've wanted to do. The idea with mine is to have a truck that could have been back in the late-60s/early-70s. People fixed them up back then, too, and one thing they did was swap parts around. The main thing is not have anything on it that was made or done after '72.

this is exactly what im trying to achieve. i just added power windows from a 66 buick i had. I always thought if they were available in cars they should have been available in trucks.

One other 67 only thing is on GMCès there is no dimples on the headlight bezel to adjust hte headlights. you have to take the bezel off to adjust them in 67 and 68-72 have dimples to adjust them with the bezels on the truck.

Good one. Yep,you have to remove the bezels on the '67s. Did you mention the '67 GMC front bumper, yet? They are straight and the same as Chevy. 68-72 is scooped out under the turn signals. No '67 GMCs got the surround trim up front.

It sure would be cool to put all the 67 stuff in a nice list and put it in the faq. the link from the older thread is great who knew there were so many lil' differances.

I agree with you. I don't plan on being too nit-picky either. My truck is a pretty Base truck but in making descisions on what route I take when I do certain things I want to take the fact that it is a 67 into account and Maaayybe follow that route. I think I will delete the grill Bowtie, hood letters and lock cylinders. I wanna add the Spahgetti Engineering Digi-tail LED tail lamps and some other modern ammenities. I know I'll have to dimple the frame and now I know I'll have to trim the rails if I wanna add a big block. I will also be relocating the tank. Its stuff like the correct year cluster (even if its a 7 hole from a bigger truck), bulls eye reverse lenses, single visor, vent wings, inner handles, black heater controls and so on that I really like and want to keep or add to my truck.

If you guys can include pics with some of this stuff it would be great. We all like pics. I've gotta go out and see how true my truck is (vents and ashtray you get the idea) and dig through the old parts to see if I have any more of the OG stuff laying around.

Re: 1967 Only or 60-66 Carry Over?

i like all of these trucks, BUT having said that i give 67's more respect since they are bacically a one off truck. granted im a freak and learned every single difference, but 67's are so unique that just by a few key parts you cn tell right away what truck your looking at, is it a 68 with no markers? or is it a true Panoramic cab 67. and it just seems to be a little more thought and inginuity in 67's they took more time and payed attention to detail. i mean look at the knobs putting all the ridges on the edges. then lift a 67 tailgate and then go lift a tailgate from a 72.... theres a nice difference in weight.

Re: 1967 Only or 60-66 Carry Over?

Just picked up my 67 a few days ago. Seems to be pretty clean and equipped with a lot of the original 67 parts. I'm relatively new to C10's so it's kinda hard to know what im looking at. Pics would definetly help a lot. I also plan to keep that original 67 look along with some resto mods.

I asked Jonathan about the 67's having shoulder belts. He said only 67-68 had shoulder belts. I had no idea. I thought the newer trucks brought them.

Bump or a great thread
