Re: I bought a truck! How did I do?

I finished up the mechanical stuff over the weekend and I got my truck inspected. I'm having an issue with difficult hot starts that I have to play with, but other than that, it runs really really good. I put about 60 miles on over the weekend and I couldn't be happier with it.

Re: I bought a truck! How did I do?

Very nice truck and good score! Is the SPID a reprint or something. This far as I can remember all the SPID's that I have seen have the paint color at the bottom of the 1st margin. There is also a space in the Vin number which strikes me as odd and instead of having 127 for the wheelbase just has IN.

Not trying to take anything away from the truck it's beautiful

As far as I know, the spid is original, but ill take a close look at it later to see if its been replaced

Re: I bought a truck! How did I do?

I want to rain down on him.Wonderful buy looks just as good as my 1971 Cheyenne 1/2 ton.

I wanted to see under the hood. But no pics dang you.

Now i will get yelled at buy a lot.But not fond of the color the worst color the GM every did I see it did not make it over onto the 1973--2018 trucks.Gm must of had a lot of that color left over like the 402 engines.that never got its own name plaque.

Other then that

The truck is in fantastic shape.

that one can be stated as a BARN FIND Barret Jackson would be homered to have that roll across his stage and sell it for $35,000-$60.000.That truck can buy 10 trucks. But hate the color Yuck

Smile Re: I bought a truck! How did I do?

Issues with hot starts? I had that a '72 Cheyenne/super with a 350 years ago.....pain in the butt.
I think that can happen quite often with the 350's.
There are some very good threads here on how to deal with it so when you get time search them out....or maybe some of the guys can weigh in now.

Nice truck, great find!
All Good

Ochre is the best color GM ever made

It did carry over to the 73-up trucks as well

35-60K? Yeah, keep watching Barrett Jackson.

Re: I bought a truck! How did I do?

Nice looking truck and getting documention like that is a really cool thing!

Just curious how the uhaul worked out for you hauling that pickup. I'm thinking of using one this summer. Which trailer is that from them? Would you use that trailer again? Or go bigger if you could? What were you using to haul the trailer?

Thanks

The uhual worked out pretty good, I have no complaints and I would use it again. I can't remember for certain, but I think it was just their standard auto transport trailer. I used the 2500hd gmc in my signature to haul it.

You got an awesome deal, I see trucks around here that need complete restorations and they are asking more than what you paid!

You my friend stole that truck. Nice truck. I just gave close to 10 grand for a similar truck in that shape.

Re: I bought a truck! How did I do?

Please keep that truck for life. Interior and overall truck is absolutely amazing!!!!!!!
I love Ochre color and you have a great mix of options.
For hard start warm issue - two simple fixes.
#1 Put a spacer in between the carb and the intake - can be aluminum spacer or a paper type gasket, they make both - could be a vapour lock issue.
#2 Go to Home Depot or Lowes and find some adhesive foil backed tape - it will be in the heating section - used for duct work on aluminum furnace ducting. It comes in rolls and is cheap. Wrap the starter with it on the side facing the engine /exhaust (hot side of engine). Starter could be getting warm .
Both cheap fixes and will work.
