Re: Mice Proofing
For trapping mice in general...put about 1 inch of used vegitable oil in a bucket (I used a 5 gallon model) and put that bucket somewhere that allows the mice to get to the rim...they will go in for the french fry smell, then the oil coats them, they can't jump back out, and you have'm. A bucket trap like this can catch several of them without needing to be reset. They do work best in the warmer weather because the oil is more fluid and the smell travels better.
The expired oil soaked varmits make decent fire starters in the shop stove too!

Re: Mice Proofing
I'm intrigued but how do you get the flour to be "stuck" to the trap so the mouse pulls on it and sets off the trap??

Yes - inside. And, short term, you find a collection of tiny mouse poop, pee (and the associated smell), bedding material (leaves, papers, bounce dryer sheets) or damage (chewing, holes in the headliner, etc). Longer term you find partially or fully decomposed bodies in unexpected orifices, usually when you have your face under the dash or otherwise in close proximity. K
