Re: Vintage Steel Visor...

There was no turbulence felt or sounds created by the one I had on the '70 Custom/10 I had. It's a nice rigid design

Re: Vintage Steel Visor...

Surprise surprise (think Gomer Pyle), it's Christmas in October. I was digging into some of my Harley parts stash in one of my parts attics for a swap meet Sunday and guess what I came across? I reached back in one dark corner to see if anything was back there and there was nothing....but the package of hardware with instructions from the extra visor J & J sent me! There was also just the instructions from the first visor folded up with the packet. They must have slipped off the end of the shelf in the corner. There is one simple bracket for the center Ihad forgotten about. Hey, it was 25 years ago. Gmme a break.

Re: Vintage Steel Visor...

Hey, I just realized something. You'll be receiving stolen goods! Does interstate mail make it a felony??

Sorry, not trying to waken the dead horse. Just havin' fun because it's so all good here we can actually joke like this with one other and take a poke or jab from time to time....right?

What's that? ....... Hey! Watch it!!

Re: Vintage Steel Visor...

That looks good! I wonder how much that will affect visibility; I have trouble with the roof line blocking line of sight to the traffic signal at some intersections... On the other hand, the truck will look cool stopped at that green light!

Re: Vintage Steel Visor...

Id like to see it with a larger better pic. Kinda hard to really get a good look at it. There are a couple of members on the board that have visors .. they look pretty good.

Re: Vintage Steel Visor...

There is a GM accessory floating around that is dash mounted with a prismatic lens that indicates the color of a citified traffic light. Or, you just pull your best John Milner and do the duck and glance up chop-top style

I had to google it. That's pretty neat, I've never heard of (or seen) those prisms. Were these ever a factory option from GM? Thanks for the info, Special-K.

Re: Vintage Steel Visor...

Actually, I've never seen one like that. Pretty cool. In the '50s GM had a traffic light viewer as an accessory, but not sure about from factory. I think Cadillacs did come with them.

This is the one I had in mind:

I might even have one already... but I see them all the time at swap meets and such too. I doubt Ill have to use one. It doesn't block but a couple inches or so, not like the really older ones that could be adjusted up or down...
I guess i wont really know till I start fitting the seats in there.

Re: Vintage Steel Visor...

I don't have pictures of the '70 Custom/10 I had one of these on. But, I just stumbled onto pictures I took with the other one set on a '71 K/10 I had. I guess I took them for the guy who bought it

You can see the '71 Custom/30 wrecker with a fiberglass Supervisor from back even earlier days...like late '70s-early '80s

I like em! I'm going to play around with some stainless steel idea's I have laying around out there...I think it's important that windshield visors compliment the body lines of the whole vehicle such as the front of the hood. That Vintage Steel visor does that to an extent...Looks good Possmguts!

I had also toyed with the idea of making a semi style drop visor if I wasnt able to find one like this one.

Re: Vintage Steel Visor...

does anyone have one of these visors they would loan a guy to take to a machine shop and have copied then could have as many made as someone needed.I know of a shop in mo. that make semi ss. visors he could repop these easily if he had one for a pattern.

I would never put a Lund visor on my truck but I'd put that one on in a heart beat! Nice score..
