Very nice find.

Quick question; what are the red lights below the tails and above the reverse light? Oem or add-on?
Greg.

Nice find.

Did someone torch the rear coil springs or did they come that way?

They sure are! In great shape too, normally they're falling apart but these look brand new.

As far as I know they are factory, can't imagine why/when anyone would have cut the rear springs. If you're referring the the slight "sag" in the back I'm pretty sure it was how they were built and sold in the 60's:

You know, I'm not sure if that was a dealer add on or what. But they're not lights just reflectors that someone added just above the reverse lights.

Re: Barn Find - Original 1966 Suburban (Picture Heavy)

awesome find, congrats! if you keep it, i'd definitely try to keep it as original as possible...i agree with painting the bumpers, grille surround, etc. back to an original look...then like ChiefRocka said, thin whitewalls & original color (or chrome) factory hubcaps...then just enjoy & preserve it even longer!

Hey, does this warrant a new monthly contest (in addition to TOTM)? I mean like "barn find of the quarter" or something like that, or "steal of the century", you know.?!?

I like that train of thought. Too many originals end up changed and chopped up. Keep it original or sell it to somebody who will keep it original. Nice Burb !

Re: Barn Find - Original 1966 Suburban (Picture Heavy)

Very nice score. Too pristine to do much to it. I would take it back to 100% original condition and show it every chance I got.

Leave the customization to the trucks that are already hacked on.

Good luck.
