Wow, I wish that was there last week when I stopped in. I might have to go up and check it out. I need a drivers side door and a tailgate. I did pick up a nice grill for my 72 at a yard down by Richfield.

Re: Check out this fresh peach that was newly added to the junk yard

We don't want to get on this subject. 5 years ago when metal was at 550.00 a ton i saw more crap end up in the scrap yard that just make all of you shoot your Kid's 1963-72 Nova's 1967-73 camaro's 1959 Chevy Biscayne 4 door jet black with inline 6 with AC straight as hell 1959 caddy's 1955-57 210 coups and a ton of them old 1950-72 chevy trucks.

Trust me i put Calls out to every collector i could all of them told me we don't have time to sit out in front of the scrap yards. So all i can say .

So what in less then 4-5 more years all the old car's will be scraped or junked and the only way most of the new people wanting to get into this hobbie.

Will be buying a used up project that some one has altered to beyond what your or me will ever want so they will wind up in the junk Yard.

I'm not one for modifying really too much on there old car's or trucks.

Its like the 1985-90's faze with the mini pick up's how long did that last.and where are all them trucks with the tilt beds and crazy paint jobs in the scrap yard or junk pile.

the only ones that are still around are the ones that the plain guys wanted a Stock truck from the factory with mild up grades like Disc brakes posi a edalbrock crab or a Crate 260 or 290 hp stock engine a trailer hitch.

I know of over 500 trucks of guys all over the USA that just wanted a old truck to relive the past

I like seeing stock trucks means that there might be a chance that when they are still around to be handed down to the next gen

I actually do need some nice tailgate moulding too! Guess I'll have to keep looking. My tailgate has a nice bow in it, otherwise pretty nice. Thanks for the pic.

Shoulda took the whole tailgate and just bought the tailgate trim new. It's not really expensive. Many great parts on both. Those steel headlight doors are gems and so are those painted below eyeline mirrors. That shell is a quality piece that should live on. Anyone notice the slider?

Agreed some fine parts there. Tail gate, and the red interior are just a piece of the pie that wouldn't take up much room.

Look out for clean non cracked arm rests, some colors are not reproduced, and the ones that are, usually not the correct shade.

That 70 chevy sure reminds me of the sleeper farm truck from Oklahoma! It's even got a canopy like the sleeper farm truck!

Sure does. Hell, it even still had the keys in the ignition, on a keychain with the guys other keys. I'm guessing this was grandpas truck, and when he died, the idiot family just called the junkyard to come haul it away.

I was thinking maybe it was an impound and that's why it wasn't put out right away. It's just too nice and no one is that big of an idiot. I tellya, you shoulda gotten that tailgate. That cap is nicer than the one on the sleeper truck

The keys were in the ignition though, so I just don't know. It wasn't just one key either. Had what looked like the guy's house key and a couple others, along with a grocery store membership savings key fob

Anyway, one bummer about the tailgate, is that the bed and the gate were rhino lined. You can see the lip on the top edge. I'd like to just have extra tailgates and such I suppose, but I don't have the kind of storage space somebody else I know does

It almost looks like that GMC might have factory air...looks like a condenser behind the grille

It truly is a shame that some morons think that something like those trucks are "junk"

Let's be realistic, those trucks are in pristine shape compared to what some people start projects with

Oh, I know. Makes me sad, but it at the same time grateful that I have access to pick the low hanging fruit to put on my truck.

That Chevy doesn't even have a rusted rocker panel. Made me jealous lol.

Yup, but I'd rather buy something from someone's garage than a junkyard, gives me a better feeling.

I know, but if I don't, somebody else will, or more of the truck will just get crushed. At least part of the truck lives on in mine

Re: Check out this fresh peach that was newly added to the junk yard

Well, I blew off my plans and raided my emergency fund and went ahead and got some stuff off of that truck. I was in a hurry, so I just grabbed the low-hanging fruit. I got the dash and the heater control and some smalls. I am hoping that the tach is the kind with a switch from 8 to 6 cyl. I know it's not ideal, but I need a tach and a gauge cluster and even though is not right, it's well done:

I also saw that those really nice chrome wing windows off the '68 that the top is chopped off of was still there, and that someone had even removed them for me. Well, one was in the bed and the other was all undone, just needed finessed out of the door. And then I went to another yard I know in Ogden and found a HEI for a six:

And by the way, Mister B, I don't know how I missed you, that was me that was parked right next to you in the green '68 at the Redwood Road yard.

Yeah-dash pad was shot, although I've seen way worse running around. I meant to grab the door sills, too, but I forgot.
