Re: 69 chevy build

I found this pic of my truck before I started to tear it apart. I have had the truck about twenty years. I drove with the original six for about five years before I put the 350 in it.

Go to your build page and copy the website/link and go to your "user control panel" and then go to "edit signature" and paste the link from your build on your signature page then save it.

Re: 69 chevy build

Got a little bit more done last night. Now I got to get my springs in, put some weight on it so I can get my spindles and disc breaks on.

Re: 69 chevy build

Good idea for the poor man's hoist! I did something very similar in my condo when installing the new hot water tank onto a stand.

In fact, the pics of your hoist inspire me to frame-off restore my own truck! And I think I see how to do it!

Re: 69 chevy build

One step forward and four back. Seems when you buy the drop spindle you need the newer balljoint. I think 71-72 balljoint, got some coming from the local parts store. Ran out of chassis paint, ordered some from jegs and its back ordered. Haven't heard from LMC on the grill yet, think I might give them a call Monday.

Re: 69 chevy build

So Im to the point I can start gathering all my parts I have bought over the years. I get all the shocks layed out on the table, now I have to figure out front and back. Of course they are not labeled on the box, so I look them up on line. I have discovered that the dt4809g is for the front. So you would think the other two are for the rear well it's a good thing I looked. It turns out the dt4052g is also for the front but stock height. So I have no rear shocks
Also each shock came with the frame stud bolt no bolt for the bottom. And they came with some spacers and som weird looking thing. I'm posting a couple pictures.
On a positive note I talked to LMC today they are sending me a new grill, that makes me very happy

That's good to hear. Nice when a company fronts up and does right by their customers.

Re: 69 chevy build

i believe those thingys are for the newer trucks were the shocks mount inside the coil spring, just extra parts so they can fit different year model trucks, good luck with your build

Thanks, and I found out that they are using the stock front shock in the rear.. Got my replacement grill from LMC, haven't opened it yet but I'm about too. I'm almost afraid to open it..

Re: 69 chevy build

The grill is perfect, now I can put it back in the box and in a safe place till I need it. I am close to having a rolling chassie. I think once that gets done I'm going to bolt my new radiator cross member to the frame and install all the parts. I went with halogen headlights, new HEADLIGHT BEZEL, new grill and the insert. All new bolts. Mount the radiator and cooling fan. Then unbolt it and put it in a box till I need it...

Re: 69 chevy build

nice work on your project. After I did my upper balljoints people said that the nuts should be on the top not the bottom so you can see if they are getting loose for any reason.
Might want to check on that. Looks like yours are the same way as mine.

Thanks jointtech. I like the looks of the bolts, anyway that's what lock washers and lock nuts are for... It's all in the details. I like those rims and tires very sharp

Re: 69 chevy build

Got a lot done today, It rained all day so the wife didn't mind me playing in the garage all day. Got the front tires on the ground, still got to get tie rods and power steering unit painted and installed. Then the front end should be almost complete, I am trying to decide to paint the front sway bar black or detail grey.

The forum software only allows one per post (I think).

For multiple images per post, you'll need to host them on a separate server and then link to them.

Go to http://www.photobucket.com and open an account (it's free). Upload your images there - you can even create sub-folders etc to keep things organised by project, event etc - then link them in your posts using the [IMG] codes.
