There is a small crossmember (not the rear one) that needed removed on mine. I think it was for the spare tire holder. I have a SWB with leafs and 19" fits easily. It will even tuck under the rear crossmember some.

Are you guys measuring with the piece removed? Can you post some pics, this tank will fit leaf spring just fine, are the coil spring trucks that much different?

Kind of a silly question, why are yall relocating the tank? Safety reasons? I'm thinking about it because I don't want a tank in the cab of my 16 year old sons truck...

this is a better question for the regular forum, but there are many reasons. Some for safety, some for smell, some for speakers, some for storage. any reply's should be posted to the regular forum so we don't highjack Dave's group buy...

The only difference would be the height of the crossmember, mine is a wood bed. I don't know the height of the steel bed floor crossmembers, shouldn't be an issue though.

You will have to make a trap door for the filler, or have a 1.5" neck welded on instead and run a flush boat deck style filler, or make your own up.

FYI on the boat filler. I found a 2" on ebay for about $30 with shipping and the hose at napa. After looking at the 2" filler the 1 1/2" filler must be awful small for filling at the pump.

steel xmembers are 3" high

My rear crossmember (1965 4X2 frame) slopes down and back at the bottom of the crossmember. I did a quick measurement of my opening and I believe it will clear. I will do more measuring tomorrow to confirm.

I installed mine this weekend (tank looked great btw) and had to modify a few things but nothing big. The rear cross member on mine was tight on the right side by less than 3/8 of an inch so I knocked out the rivets on that side (two) and slid the support back towards to bumper about 1/2 an inch. The frame didn't shift at all when I moved it so no worry's there and you already have to remove two rivets to remove the other brace so you already have the tools out.

I specked my tank with a 2" fill but if you're going with a bed floor fill with a boat filler you only need about an 1 1/2" height on it. I also ordered the fill with a 2" diameter and had to make a small 3/8" notch on that same back cross member so the fill didn't hit. I was close and on a 1 1/2" fill you probably could get by without it.

I also ordered a remote roll over valve from tanks inc. for only $11 and should be a cheap fix for the vent issues.

Got any pics to share of the area you are talking about? My frame is done and painted. I don't want to be modifying it, but could cut down on the 19" deminsion to maybe 18 1/2. Just trying to figure this out.

Forgot to mention that I have a 69 and I would say on these trucks the tolerances are enough that regardless of the year you need to measure in up. I need to get some pics when I go back to finish it up.
