Good Lord.. I went to order upper and lower bearings and they wanted to charge 25 bucks to ship them! Would have been 100 bucks total.. this was at Classic Heartbeat... where else should I check?

I ordered a lower bearing for my 68 from National Parts Depot, $25.00 and along with some other stuff, gaskets and such, shipping was only about $9.00. I'm in Indiana and order is coming from Michigan.
Some of these dealers charge crazy shipping fees. Phil

You might try your local NAPA store if you have one. They wouldn't have them on hand but they may be able to order them.

This is a great thread and is about to come in very handy. I assume from the pictures (thanks sduckworth13) that the ball bearings can be put into the race and reassembled? I have a variety of different size ball bearings and not certain which size it uses.

As I begin my disassembly, I see no ball bearings but they might be caught up inside the race, stuck with grease. I doubt it though as there appears to be no grease in the race. I haven't removed the column (yet) but shifted it enough the get a look at the lower bearing race while it is still on the truck.

I'll see if I can find a ball.
