Re: Symptoms of a burnt exhuast valve?

Hello everyone, I just wanted to update my thread. I got my new engine in and the truck is running great! I tore my old engine down and it was in pretty bad shape. Two cam lobes were completely flat, timing chain was stretched and rubbing the timing cover, the timing gear has two broken(plastic) teeth, and the cylinders have a noticeable ring ridge( it would need to be bored 30 over). I still might rebuild it this winter though and drop it back into my truck. If anyone is wondering, it is an original 4 bolt main.

Re: Symptoms of a burnt exhuast valve?

Nice work! I put a Chevy crate into my 76 about 20 years ago...it's a good feeling having it all new and shiny. I'm glad to hear that the crate motor prices have not gone up that much. I think the one I bought was $1500 picked up at the dealer. My 85 Chevy is starting to show signs of wearing out, maybe a Chevy crate or the one out of my 76...it only has 70K miles on it still, but the paint as become see-through, if you know what I mean.
