Wow, thanks for the welcome guys! I'm hooked on this site. I couldn't sleep last night so I was reading about disk brake swaps at 3:30am!!?? (Well that did the job, out cold after 15 mins...)

Just checking this thread again and I can give you a few updates.

Joe67 - Grimsby, ON is about 4 hours from the Detroit, MI boarder.
Cutter61 - St. Catharines (The Garden City) my home town. I will need some new parts soon. Need to find a good wrecker in the Region.
69Hafton - I think I will do the HEI upgrade, thanks.

Safety Inspection
Needs very little. I have a great mechanic who isn't going to snag a whole lot of little things and let me do the work as he knows a lot of things are going to change.

Next steps in order of priority:
1) Get the engine running smooth. The choke is not working on the carb, and there are some driveabilty issues with the fuel (carb) and timing/ignition. I'd hate to stall her out in the middle of an intersection. I think I'll do the HEI upgrade as it not going to cost too much.
2) BRAKES (you'd think this would be first right?) The Master cly has a small[/SIZE] leak so I'll need to replace that, but it does stop the truck nicely. I'd like to do the front disk brake conversion, so now is the time for that. I'd like to do the full changover from a donor truck.

I have a 1970 C10 2wd.....is there a perfered year I should be looking for for in a donor truck??? (71/72 in my area I'd think would be hard to find and likely expensive)

LOL I thought I would grab mine for 2500 running....put some rockers on and maybe a couple doors but that would be it........I am embarrassed to add up the bills. But it is all new or restored or NOS or whatever I could get good for a good price. Forums are the best places to find parts.

Here's the scoop on the truck:

1970 Chev C10 SWB Fleetside

Body
Blue paint badly blistered and peeling
Lots of mud in spots but overall appears fairly solid
The rockers, firewall, and under cab supports have major rust problems.(see below)
Wood bed that needs replaced or refurbished

Suspension
No PS and PB
Cracked frame in the rear with some rough patch work.
I can see daylight through the shocks..

Motor
250 CID "Fireball" Six.....Sweet! (Not)
Don't worry that will get rectified

Plans
I don't have a huge wad of cash I can throw at it so I'll have to do most of the work myself and little by little. It will be a long term thing but I hope to get it fixed up enough to be a daily driver for now.

Not sure which way to go because I really like them both. Either I'll,
1) "pimp it out" lowered with a crazy engine, paint job, big rims/tires or
2) Keep it fairly stock looking with a crazy engine and paint job.

Anyway, I'll try and post a few PICs here so you can see my starting point.

By the way, that rear bumper looks pretty good on that truck. Usually, I'm all about stock. I deviated once myself - put a FORD (yeah, sorry for the "f" word) Ranger rear bumper on my 69 short step. looked pretty good.
