These are original tanks that I found locally. A guy here has a huge garage full of parts. He pulled them off a junker and had them for sale. My truck originally had saddle tanks made by "Travel Tanks" but they were removed and tossed when the truck was repainted. The control valve and the gauge switch were still there so I made them functional again. I put floats in the tanks and connected them to the switch on the dash. I have a total capacity of 52 gallons including the factory tank. I moved the filler necks to the wheel wells so that I would not have to cut the side of the bed out.

Thanks Jim. The travel tanks were installed in mine originally but as I was saying before, they got tossed at some point. I was fortunate enough to find these babies at a guys shop. They are factory originals and fit the truck perfectly. Here are a few pics of the tank and the original set up. Note the 3 position switch on the left side of the dash cluster and the original crossover valve plate from the floor next to the seat.

Re: 72 K20 Survivor

thanks, those are a good fit. Shame a po tossed the travel tanks - what did you do to move the filler neck? cut/fill/reposition? Good choice, I'm not a fan of the aux doors either. I've got a set of wheelwell tanks I'm waiting to refurbish for someday.

I unsoldered the original necks, cut new holes and resoldered after trial fit. Capped and soldered old holes then had tanks vat cleaned and rust-proffed.

They did a good job. I especially like that they put a rough surface on the lower blue to resist rock chips. BTW, nice truck as well.

Thanks. I purchased the kick panels from classic industries. After some minor trimming, I got them to fit really nice. I painted them with an original paint code rattle can from NAPA paints.
