Great looking k/5. Did you have any body/ frame flex problems with the spare tire carrier?

4" leafs in front , rear has ord shackle flip, BDS shocks.

planning on getting 2" leafs to level out the rear.

I'm still fighting the urge to 4 link the rear and not bother with leafs.

What did you use for bearings on the tire carrier hinges...or is it just steel on steel?

Another impressed newb here - just recently purchased a '71 Jimmy (), so let's just say I'm eagerly watching your mods! And I'll take the next spot in line in you're wanting to build another front winch bumper and sell it!
Keep up the awesome work!

Thanks! I had no idea where to get those for down the road when I make a carrier.

Re: New from detroit and my 2nd marriage.

could one of the mods move this to the build section please?

little bit of color added , stripped eveything down to bare metal and lined the exterior.

Close ups of the tire carrier anchor points, welded through the fenders to the C pillar.

I also realize my camera sucks now in low light. Still have to do the passenger side.

Re: New from detroit and my 2nd marriage.

well it's time for winter and I'm happy with the raptor liner paint job.

Held up good against a few branches / trees and the mud comes off fairly easy.

So, the last 4 months been piecing together a new 350, .020 over , flat top pistons, lunatti cam, electric fan upgrade.
Current motor, leaks from rear main and rear of intake.

My blazer will finally stop marking it's territory every where I go.
BTW, Am I the only one that it bothers leaving quarter size puddles every where?

So next few weeks in the garage for a heart transplant.

Re: New from detroit and my 2nd marriage.

Motor is in, with vortec heads and dual plane intake, still tuning the carb.

Threw in a electric fan, and braided fuel lines, working on a new carb hat and air box to protect the air cleaner at the moment.

I'm more impressed with the electric fan than anything allowing the motor to heat up faster and warmer heat in the cab, during the 20 degree days were having.

I will post a pic installed later. (teaser sorry have family over this weekend)

Re: New from detroit and my 2nd marriage.

I have the same leak out of my valve cover. Drives me nuts. I'm hoping to get a year out of this 350 then going to do some major work to the hole truck.

Re: New from detroit and my 2nd marriage.

Any updates? Did you tie your cage into the frame or just bolt it to the body?
