Re: Show me your seats - utility, custom, sport, etc.

The passenger seat in mine had broken, and I needed to tear it appart to weld it. I decided to go ahead and get the seats re-upholstered so my wife could ride in the beast with me. Mine's a 71, but I saw the 72 black and white hounds tooth seets in another blazer and decided I'd go with those. I also decided I didn't like the wrap around from the seat back that covered the metal set brackets so that wasn't installed. It's not original by any means, but I do like it. I have it stripped down getting ready for major rocker repair, so the seats are the only decent thing in the pics:

minid, those seats came out awesome, now you just have make the rest of the truck worthy of those nice seats.... I think I saw that seat in CB's truck not sure. Would that be a stock upholstery???

The hound's tooth insert is the stock fabric from the 72 catalog, but the vinyl is not (went a little cheaper as I didn't think vinyl texture was a big thing to match). The layout is pretty close with the hound's tooth insert being about 1/2" wider than factory. Also, I'm not sure... but I believe the fabric is supposed to come down from the back portion of the seat and wrap around the bottom portion of the bottom section (hiding the back-rest mounting bracket). That always looked ugly to me and caught anything that fell from the seat, so I didn't have them put that in. It makes for easier assembly/disassembly too.

Re: Show me your seats - utility, custom, sport, etc.

These 40/20/40 seats came out of a 98 Dodge Dakota SPORT truck.
I liked the armrest (with storage) that could fold up for "3 across" seating when needed !!! The twin cup holder slides out from the center section too, when needed
I spaced them out about 1" each side (from center section) to fit the space better ...........they were a little to "tight" before I spaced them out.
Only thing I miss is the lack of shoulder belts being built in.......
Otherwise they are comfy and fit right !!!
GOOD THREAD !!!
All are great options

Both of our seats are redone with a similar looking cover, but MiniD's seats are the more comfortable & sturdy utility type buckets and mine are the narrower sport bucket type that you can use the oe type console with. I added a couple pics of my re-done front seats and also the rear, while apart I sand blasted and powder coated all the seat mounting hardware/brackets. I also added a pic of what they look like with my original (un-restored) console, I like the tuffy a bit better. Hey MiniD, I did end up keeping that black set of factory rear blazer seat lap belts, they are the one's off that seat that was sold already when you were last over. The buyer of the seat is going green with his interior so the belts are yours if you want them. Lmk, Cb

Can we keep this going? What's a good way to reinforce the floor for seats with integrated seatbelts?

Re: Show me your seats - utility, custom, sport, etc.

Hey guys, I'm now starting to plan the seats for my progect. Looking at the buckets seats with the stock appearence maybe the way for me.

Re: Show me your seats - utility, custom, sport, etc.

I would use some 1/8 in steel plate and weld it to the under side of the floor. do it in two strips one for the rear bolt onr for thr front of each seat . That should spread the load out over a big enough rea to take a hit in a wreck,

Here is a link showing how I reinforced the floor of my K20. Obviously the rocker boxes make reinforcing the K5's floor totally different.
