I had them built by Detroit Steel Wheel Co..They are quite a bit cheaper than Centerline's smoothie, mainly because these are steel obviously.

Re: Project "Sleezy" 72 Highlander

I know nothing about cars & trucks, but I like your Sleezy.

Husband's YG7 (also a lowly long bed) with avocado plaid was originally ordered in "Medium Green", and was…unique.
I imagine the old farmer proudly driving home in his brand new truck, just to get an earful of his wife's opinion of the color combo. Your original owner made a better choice.

Is there any regional factor to the desirability of Highlanders, and how they are done and re-done? In other words, are there stereotypical, noticeable preferences based on geography? or is it just a matter of different tastes for different guys?

Nice! I wish I could have ordered one new, however, I was born a little too late for the 72 (13 years ). I have yet to see another Highlander in person, especially around here. I honestly didn't even know what a Highlander was until I bought the truck and did all of the research

Re: Project "Sleezy" 72 Highlander

Installed the CPP rear big brake kit. I hope its installed correctly, CPP's instructions were quite vague/non existent. Now I just have to hook up the parking brakes and wait for my front to rear SS brake lines

Re: Project "Sleezy" 72 Highlander

Also installed a wheel to make sure everything had plenty of clearance. There should be a lot less gap once the truck is on the ground, hopefully.

I see two in blocks in your future. What are the specs on the wheels and tires?

Thanks! I was just looking at your thread and that thing buffed out awesome! The specs for the wheels are 20x8 (4.5 BS) and 20x9 (4.0 BS). But I think Detroit Steel Wheel can build them however you want. I don't think they do
22" yet (Well as of Feb when I ordered mine). But they are a good bit cheaper than the Centerline Smoothie.

I spoke to Detroit steel wheels a few months ago and was told that they hoped to have 22's out in October. We'll see. Like the direction of your build

Thanks! Yeah they said they were working on 22's but nothing set in stone yet. Personally I would prefer 22's but went ahead with the 20's. I guess if they look horrible I will just sell them and buy Centerlines' 22" smoothie.

You might think you want 22's but you don't because it's a pain in the arse and a lot of extra expense to get them to fit up under the front end, you made the right decision on size and wheel style they are going to look wicked!

The nice thing about two tone paint under trim is you can fix that rust easily and inexpensively, just go to harbor freight and get a polycarbide disk and strip the damaged area down to bare metal and if there is rust all the way through don't even worry about it just strip the other side then seal it all up with Rust-Oleum so it won't deteriorate further then set up a consultation appointment with the body shop and tell them you want the metal replaced and the paint color matched and set your next appointment so that when you take it in to get worked on you will have it back in a day.
Here is the link for the polycarbide disk.

If you don't have a 4-1/2" side angle grinder here is the link for it.

Thanks! I just spent approx. 30 minutes looking through your thread and its lookin good! Yeah I didn't want to go too extreme with my C10 as I still want to use it as a truck around the house and whatnot, so 20's should be sufficient and still look good.

Re: Project "Sleezy" 72 Highlander

Worked on the C10 a little this evening. My SS brake lines from LMC came in yesterday so I got to work! They took a little massaging but for the most part went in and fit nicely.
