Re: Starting my 66 "Hay Wagon" build thread.
What size tires do you have on the rear of your '65? They appear to be bigger than 275/60's.

Re: Starting my 66 "Hay Wagon" build thread.
The 66 has 275 60 while the 66 has 285 75. The 285s will rub both the side and front of the fender.

Re: Starting my 66 "Hay Wagon" build thread.
Here is the rendering for this project. I wanted to keep it really simple looking and let the chassis and motor be the more "wow" parts on the truck.
Let me know what you think, thanks MB |

The Wheels I saw on a project build by Delmo here on the forum. I will likely change up the hub cap but the overall look will be similar to the drawing. A company out of Florida does my renderings ... Company is call Eye Kandy Designs. MB |

Re: Starting my 66 "Hay Wagon" build thread.
Well the tear down has began. The truck is in no way perfect, big hole in the door, with a little other rust throughout the truck. Still a good project to start with for sure. MB

Re: Starting my 66 "Hay Wagon" build thread.
Looking at the rendering it's funny how the lip of the wheels almost looks like skinny white walls. Very Cool

Re: Starting my 66 "Hay Wagon" build thread.
I notice somebody switched it out to the 73+ motor mounts also.
But then again, they probably had to for the big block.

Re: Starting my 66 "Hay Wagon" build thread.
I prefer to purchase my replacement parts from Classic Parts. But beware that the majority of the replacement, patch body parts are made overseas, and as such the quality is hit and miss. Most of the front fenders are of poor quality particularily where they surround the grill. I recenntly read on here from another member that he was quite happy with his replacement front fenders from Goodmark. The exception to that is the tailgate which you can find from Mar-K, and is made in the USA. Recently USA made cab corners have become available from MBGMike who is a Vendor here on the forum as well as Mar-K. They can be found in the 'Vendor Marketplace' here on the forum.

Re: Starting my 66 "Hay Wagon" build thread.
Its been a slow start but some parts are starting to arrive. The cab has come back from sandblasting as well. Found a few holes but all in ..... its not a bad start.

Re: Starting my 66 "Hay Wagon" build thread.
I am pleased to announce that Porterbuilt and MBRP will be teaming up on the suspension for this build! We have made some tweaks and adjustments to some of our existing products to fit the needs of the build. I will post up some pics of all the parts and add detailed descriptions.
For now, a basic rundown is as follows: Porterbuilt Dropmember up front with Porterbuilt Tubular Control Arms and Dropmember Rear out back with weld-in four link and an inboard bridge assembly. It's gonna be a nice build, so follow along as Martin and the team at MBRP work their magic getting this truck SEMA ready! Nate

Re: Starting my 66 "Hay Wagon" build thread.
Thanks Nate.
I'm looking forward to seeing and using the Porterbuilt products. We have been working with a few other companies over the last few weeks as well so I hope to post up a list of other brands we will be using in the next few days. More progress pics to come later today as well. MB |

Re: Starting my 66 "Hay Wagon" build thread.
I received word yesterday that Accuair is supplying a killer set up for this ride, Boyd Welding is welding up a fuel tank and Aeromotive is supplying the fuel system to feed the 427.
Just wanted to say thanks to these companies. Today we are picking our wheels and tires so we can get to work on building a Ford 9" diff for the project. I should have the Roller back here today, so we will be cutting this up soon as well. MB |

Re: Starting my 66 "Hay Wagon" build thread.
Here is a new rendering of the project. Since we hooked up with Nate the truck's stance is going to be a little lower than I had originally drawn. The new rendering reflects the lower ride height.

Re: Starting my 66 "Hay Wagon" build thread.
A few progress pics ..... We got the cab blasted and primed up so we can start cutting out rust and panels that we need to replace.
Now that the cab is back we are sending our the other parts and pieces for blasting too. The old Chevy is loaded with all the C 10 parts. We started cutting out floors as well, new panels going in soon. MB |
