Great job on the truck Doug. I really like that stance! Can't wait till the weather warms up so We can get a few of the trucks around here together at a cruise night.

Great looking truck, have you thought about upgrading from points to HEI? You get a better spark and you can pick them up at your local wreckers for 30 to 40 $. My 1970 swb fleet runs and is easer to time with it.

Lovin' the coolers 69lemans! I've been looking for one for the past 6 months but all the local coolers are pretty pricey. Still holding out...

EDIT
Can someone post the dimensions on their coolers?

Hey BlckButy, what kind are you looking for? Being from MO,home of the "King of Beers",you might appreciate this one. I bought it on ebay 6 or 7 years ago with intentions of turning it into either a Mt Dew or Frostie root beer cooler but it's too nice to alterIt's just been gathering dust ever since. Might be persuaded to let it go. It's 19" wide,12" tall and 9" deep

Here's where I got the decals for my other coolers, but they don't have near the selection now they use to have

Oldblue,
The stepside disease has a funny way of infecting you. I didn't care for the side mount spare or the original green paint, but you know it has grown on me...... however, I still love fleetside shorties!!! But don't tell my truck that.

Re: Out of Hibernation...... With Pics!

Nate,
Mine Coke cooler is 19" high, 13" deep, and 18" wide. It's a bit bigger than I expected. I also had the idea of an old black lunchbox for tools. That way, it could ride shotgun and look completely normal/old school.....

69Lemans,
That Dr Pepper cooler is beautiful! I figure since my truck isn't nothing to look at, I'll take the cooler along to shows as an interesting prop. BUT, I have a couple old Coke and Kickapoo Joy Juice bottles that would look really trick sitting on the cooler in the bed! An old guy once told me, "If you don't have a show vehicle, at least make it interesting to look at!"

Thanks for the idea!!!!

Thanks for the compliments. You can still get KickaPoo Joy Juice, but it's not cheap and the shipping is outrageous.

You can get Dr Pepper in small glass bottles pretty reasonable though

Re: Out of Hibernation...... With Pics!

Looks great. I have never been a big fan of stepsides but that is the nicest one I have ever seen. The steering wheel looks great, as does the pinstriping, and the cooler is flat out awesome. I will have to get something like that for my 37 Chevy truck.

My wifes cooler that I posted pics of is about 14" wide 14" high and 12" deep.

If he passes on that Budweiser cooler I'd love to give it a new home! (If I can afford it)

Oh...My name is Asa! Now you're in the loop!

Doug, the wheel and glovebox look great! such a good looking truck, glad to see some updated pics. What's the details on your drop again? I'm thinking the wife's truck might need to get down that low.

glad to see you got the ol' girl out on a nice day.

Any chance you guys could convince Jill to join us at either the camping meet or the All Truck Nats? I'd like to get some lines done on the '50.

Re: Out of Hibernation...... With Pics!

Chris,
My drop is the final product of several attempts. I can't remember how many times the front was completely tore down, checked, put on the floor, then checked again. If I didn't like that, then back on jack stands it went. I guess that's why my back has killed me all winter!

front:
-Summit 3" drop coils for 73-89 GM trucks with a half coil removed
-McGaughy's 2.5 drop disc brake spindles
-1.25" front sway bar
-Tokico drop shocks (still to install)
-CPP shortened sway bar mounts
-Prothane bushings

rear:
-2.25" custom billet aluminum drop blocks
-CPP 6" drop springs
-CPP bolt-in "C" notch
-Early Classic SuperTrac bar
-shock relocators (still to install)
-Tokico drop shocks (still to install)

rolling stock:
-235/70/15 Uniroyal Tiger Paw GTS
-rallyamerica.com 15x7 bare smoothie rims
-rear 1" wheel spacers

The front tires tuck inside the wheel well enough that there is no tire rub. The front aligns up correct.

I have not had to modify the bed to clear the rear axle.

I did need to modify the exhaust to dump ahead of the rear axle.

The ride is actually very good and corners MUCH better. Hope this info helps get your wife's rig a bit closer to terra firma!!!

Re: Out of Hibernation...... With Pics!

Said it before and I will say it again!!! That is one bad a$$ truck!!!! One of the lowest static drops I have ever seen!!! Love it!!!! Coolers huh?? I'll play... THis one said Cola Cooler till a 18 year old girl who does some of my pinstriping got her hands on it.... Since it is usually full of adult beverages she went with the Big Boy Cola theme.. I am going to design a way to lock it in the beds of my truck so it doesnt grow legs... I have a few others I am going to let her give the treatment too...
