South Carolina very warm 95* this week all week long and very humid. Did I tell you how humid it was!
28'x 32' garage and I use 4 electric portable fans. I just move them where I will be working. I keep saying I need to install a couple of ceiling fans but haven't done it.

With my garage door open in the afternoon it's not bad. The sun is behind the house then. Mornings can get a little warm. It all insulated since I have the room overhead.
I have one cheap o box fan that I hung above my work bench also.

Anything above 72 F for me is "too hot" and this week the state is into the 80's.

I've been thinking about fans opposite each other....one on the shaded side of the garage pulling air into the garage and the other pointing towards the sunny side....that should great a "breeze" that would have at least some cooling effect. The windows I'd choose would be at an angle to each other, it should cool a large part of the garage.

My garage is too drafty to make AC cost effective.

In the future, I'll buy or build a house in a shaded area! I really hate facing the afternoon sun as I do.

spent a lil time today researching and it looks like the biggest window unit is 28k BTU and cost roughly $800.

not terrible, but I'll also have to run electric since its 220.

also, my windows slide left to right, not up and down, so I'll likely have to remove the window completely to install this.

You think that's bad? My windows are single pane, steel beasts that rotate downwards....the "old" style for those of us old enough to remember! LOL

Yes, both us will have to remove our windows, just take some care to brace that AC unit from the ground and/or provide some structural security so the neighborhood crack head can't push your window unit through and have a hay day selling your tools at the pawn shop.
