Re: dropped axle vs MII suspension and more questions

It took a long time for me to decide which way to go with this truck but I finally made up my mind to stay with the straight axle setup. I just had the 265 V8 completely rebuilt and am very glad I went this way. I'll soon be taking the truck apart so I can get the motor/transmission mounts welded in and get the frame cleaned up. So far, I'm looking to get a 2" dropped axle and new leaf springs all around. Power steering with front disc brakes and rear drum brakes. I'm going to try to post a picture of the freshly rebuilt engine but don't know if the link will work.

Re: dropped axle vs MII suspension and more questions

I have a '59 project for myself and my son has started building a '55.2 from the parts truck and spare parts pile. Mine has a nova clip in the front and a 4 link rear. His will be stock but refreshed leaf springs front and rear with stock axles, but with 4 wheel discs. We aren't really lowering his so it is a much more economical build and hopefully keeping it simple and mostly refreshing the stock stuff will keep the build time short so he can drive it when he gets his license this summer
