Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
Well 1988 was good year and a bad year . I was waiting on pins and needles for Super Chevy to come to The Texas Motorplex . The time was almost near and a week before, me and my buddied were going to Hallsville Raceway but I didnt even make it out of town . I hit a Caddy headlight to headlight with my parents dually while hauling the Blue Truck(it totalled the caddy lol) . The truck came of the front of the trailer and hit the trailer jack square in the middle of the bumper . The left front fender and the grill were also ruined by smacking the back of the dually . Well with not much money or time some friends helped and we put a primered fender and grill that so pitful looking I painted it solid black .(it was sad believe me) But your never gonna guess what happened next ! I went on to Super Chevy with the ragged looking thing and runnered up . I think it is kinda funny that it was on page 69 and Brodix had an ad on the same page .(yall remember what is across my windshield now dont ya?)

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
In 1989 I decided to get crazy with it . I built the motor with around 12 to 1 compression and 250 plate shot with a 300 fogger shot on top of it . I did all the plumbing for the fogger in the kitchen of that old garage apartment . I also reworked the intake inside with epoxy . This combo produced 11teens at around 117 on motor . With a 250 shot it went 10.50 at 128 . With everything it had hazing those ten inch Mickey Thompsons It went 10.30 at 130 . Needless to say nobody wanted to race me on the street anymore . That was a good thing though becuase this thing was getting dangerous!

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
Cool story indeed Regan!
This story sounds very familiar, as far as the progression of your truck through the years. Sounds similar to what mine has went through. Thanks for sharing this; it sure brings back some memories for me!

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
Ok heres a little more . Looking back it was 1990 when I ran the 10.30 pass . Nobody made a stink about it that day but.......When I showed up the next time my old friend NHRA DIV 4 tech Harold Hayes met me at the trailer while I was unloading and handed me this Rulebook . Harold told me (Mr Wilson there will be no ten second passes today you need to take this home and read it ) You have to remember I didnt have any kind of rollbar and the truck still had 6 lug wheels and drum brakes .

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
Well after getting spanked for going too fast they still let me run low elevens and I raced a little here and there . I went back to just street driving it until later that year when I sold my motor to a buddy and bought a 502 unassembled . Thats when I decided to try and make it legal for the racetrack . My buddy Spenser that bought the motor came over one day and after I took a few pics we pulled the motor and he took it with him . This was a begining of a hibernation for the truck that would last seven years . Here is a pic from that sad day ..........

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
Well after I pulled the motor I completly dissasembled the front boot and hung it all on the walls in that little garage apartment . Another friend came over with an air chisel and we cut the firewall out . Well thats all that happened for a long time I had gotten married again . (that one didnt last either) I also had moved but I went by to check on the truck here and there . When you dont have the money its hard to get motivated . The story will pick back up in 1997 . As soon as I have time to scan more pics I will post some more .

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
I might have some pics of your truck back in the day at hallsville. I even have a video somewhere of me and you running. I was in my S10, but I think the pics are when I had my 70 camaro.
