As stated by others regardless of what brand you decide to go with all carburetors will require some tuning to get optimal performance.

From there talk to the manufacture of the carburetor you're going to use, so that you can get what they recommend for your combination.

Every q-jet I have ever run has either been perfect or perfect crap. Undoubtably an ignorance problem on my part.

If your pockets are fairly deep you might want to consider FI with that setup. No carb can adjust to multiple conditions like a decent FI setup can.
