A new c10 owner

I just want to introduce myself since I just bought a c10 that will be my project and soon to be a daily driver when its done. I bought it for $2100 and I thought it was a pretty good deal. It needs vary little body work but the engine has some problems. The story behind the truck is that it was a farm truck in Illinois, when the original 350 blew the owner stuffed the truck in the back of a grain barn and it sat there for 15 years. Then the second owner bought it and rebuilt the motor and drove it for 2 years. The truck was traded in at a dealer where I bought it. I saw it on craigslist and called the dealer. The owner of the dealer said it there was antifreeze in the oil and that it ran like crap. I went to look at the truck anyway. There was virtually no rust on the chassis and very little rust on the body. I bought the truck a few days later. I rented a uhal auto trailer to haul it back to my house. When trying to load the truck it didnt even have enough power to get itself on the trailer so I knew that the 350 had to come out. Its been to hot and humid to start pullin the motor so its been sittin for now. Im gonna try to figure out how to upload pics from my android so I can show you all. This seems like a great site and Im sure Im gonna need some help sooner or later haha.

Re: A new c10 owner

Looks good to me. Mechanicals are easier to fix than body/paint...cheaper, too.

Those wheels are like fossils.....I had a set back in '80, on a Pinto. Definately a period item.

It just rained here....yesterday it was 108 degrees on my deck. So, I understand not getting too physical in this heat/humidity.

Good luck on your project.

I'm not dissin' them...just saying that you don't see them much anymore. I paid good money for the one's I had...a lot more than my ex-wife wanted me to spend on the wheels and the tires that I put on them. But, I wouldn't have bought them, if I didn't like them.

On a 'Vette....especially a C-3....they look good.

Welcome HalfTon, Looks like a great deal to me.
I wouldn't be trying to start it up anymore though. Keep us posted on what you find wrong with the engine. WLH

Hey I know that area.

Welcome to the board! And very nice truck you have there. And like the guys are saying, its better to deal with engine related issues than body sometimes.

Nice looking truck! My first car, a 71 Camaro, had a set of wheels just like that on it. I feel old now. Joseph

Re: A new c10 owner

I think I got very lucky with the minimal rust. Usually Missouri weather puts a beating on old cars. Plus I'd rather fix mechanical stuff than deal with rust.

Welcome fellow new owner. I'll be keeping an eye out for your progress. Luckily my engine is fine, but I've got a bit of rust and other little things to take car of... like the seat not being bolted down... O.O
