aluminum radiator with fans

does anyone know how well these fit into the factory mounts? i got a aluminum rad off of evil-bay it claimed to be for 67-72 chevy trucks but doesnt fit for $#!*

alright, now for the install:

According to this thread: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=250472, the stock 2 & 3 row radiator is 2.75" wide at the mounts and the 4 row is 3.5". This aluminum radiator is 3.25" wide. I have the smaller brackets so I added 3/4" to them. The rubber mount will need to be squared out and chamfered in some spots.

Took a pic so you can see across the battery box for clearance, if you bb guys want some measurements let me know

These are cool... I finally got my front clip mostly off last night and I noticed i have a little leak in my radiator.. It might be the hose but need to get it out and see.. also my trans oil cooler is not in the radiator.. With all this in mind I might look at just biting the bullet and getting one of these. I have a small block check with a fan coming off the front..if I got one of these would I keep that fan as well or would I not need it? This might be a stupid question but this is my first real rebuild and I am learning as I go..

wow! i just found this thread...should of posted along time ago. tony is a great guy. i have bought lots of aluminum radiators from him for all my cars. 68 chevy 68 camaro 72 chevelle....etc this guy is great i even got one damaged by ups...sent him a pic and he sent me new fans to replace my broken ones. YOU WILL NEVER TALK TO THIS GUY THOUGH HE WILL NOT GIVE A NUMBER TO CONTACT NO OTHER EMAIL THAN EBAY. NO ADDRESS NOTHING. LOOK ON YOUR PACKAGE FROM HIM...HE DOESNT EVEN PUT A RETURN ADDRESS THE ADDRESS ON THE PACKAGE IS THE LOCATION OF THE UPS HE SHIPS FROM. WEIRD I KNOW. BUT GREAT GUY....

I think I'm going to get one of these. Seems to me in another add, he also mentions an available oil cooler. has anyone purchased a version of these with an oil cooler?

As far as I know pocoloco71 and I are the only ones on the board with one. I didn't spend a lot of time looking at it last night but it seems identical to the factory rad for a small block (dimension wise)

Packaging was very good, the piece of cardboard its laying on in the pic was wrapped around the radiator, which was secured to it with the two white band straps and the brown paper was stuffed around all four sides, then into a box. You can see in the pics the steam vent fitting is broken, but thats a $2 part and I probably have a couple laying around the shop

Didn't inspect the fans too much but they are listed as SPAL HP fans in his auction

I spoke too soon. The core is quite a bit wider than the radiator that came in the truck. Add on the fans and your clearance with a BB long water pump becomes really suspect

looks great! I had bought a 4 row when I hit e deer to replace the mangled one.. still not finished rebuilding it to driving status.

bguild if you got this radiator you wouldn't keep the fan on your engine. I've seen aluminum radiators on ebay without the fan setup but never checked to see if they're from the same guy.

So do you just unbolt the fan and leave the pulley there and let it spin with no fan.. I am defenitly not a motor head but i plan a long way down the road to get rid of the 350 sb I have now for a fuel injected set up.. so If I have to buy a new radiator I would like to just buy the one that will take me into that part of my build.. Trying to plan for the future. (-:

yep, unbolt the fan and you should be good to go. to be honest though I'm sure the stock radiator can cool a fi setup. Hell it'd probably cool mine too but I needed a fan setup and this worked out as a good package deal

Not sure about dual fans but some folks had 2 inch circles put in the shrouds to allow more air through & around the rad for the hot summer. Anyone in warmer climates run into this?

Two questions. First has anyone put these to the test? They are pretty but do they work? Second is there is enough room for a big block? In the pictures the small block looked awful close or maybe it was just the angle and the was more room inbetween the fans.
