Re: Does anyone offer a NEW cab?
Why not? Project copperhead was nothing more than a cab and a title? Every other piece was bought from a catalog. If a steel cab was offered I'm sure Stacey would have bought that too. How many people on here have replaced doors, fenders, frames, beds, drivelines, are those original anymore? Nope, but they sure look it

In fact, I'm not even sure it's legal in this state to remove and replace vin tags. |

If you have the numbers matching engine, why not? People have replaced truck floors, floors, rockers, doors, fenders, hoods, rear quarters, decklids, trunks, and interiors on '69 RS/SS cars before, what's wrong with throwing in a new cowl and roof? Not to mention, chances are that the "numbers matching engine" and trans have been rebuilt. Is it still original if it's rebuilt? I'm not trying to argue with you, but I think your missing that point that almost NO restored vehicle is 100% original. Things get replaced. If you want to sell it as "an original pace car" that's up to your conscience. Future buyers of these cars will have to be inquisitive upon what was actually replaced and see if they still want to pony up the cash for it.

Re: Does anyone offer a NEW cab?
IMO, there is a huge difference between something that has been restored VS something that has been re-constructed. To me, anything that is somewhere less than 50%? original material is starting to become a reconstruction.
And of course there are no 100% original restorations. Anything that is 100% in the end didn't need a restoration in the first place. |

Re: Does anyone offer a NEW cab?
I think 1996 was the last year, but you used to be able to cut the VIN number out of an american Volkswagon, and send it to a company in Mexico, and the would "restore" your car with Mexican made Volkswagon tooled parts just like they were using that year to produce new beetles. Though I would argue that the car was no longer an original classic, it didn't cease to be a volkswagon beetle with all it's charm and simplicity.
The same would be true of a Camaro, Chevelle, Mustang, etc. It is still a Chevy Camaro even if it was built in 2006. It should be noted that it is not an original car when selling etc. But when it comes to enjoying the vehicle, it wouldn't take away from the fun of driving a muscle car. That is unless you just have to have a chip on your shoulder.

Re: Does anyone offer a NEW cab?
they claim that all nos and origional parts will fit perfectly and most reproduction parts so it makes me wonder if they used the origional tooling from gm to make these. and they are only letting 2 shops do the final assembly on the shells to keep the quality high

Re: Does anyone offer a NEW cab?
Just my .02 about the camaro bodies available,I live near a highly recognised resto shop and it is not uncommon to see a 40-50,000 bill for a resto on a camaro or mustang of that era.The new 69 camaro body available starts to look like a fair price when all is considered.

Re: Does anyone offer a NEW cab?
Down here in NC it is completely legit do have these bodies retitled as a '69 if you have an original trim tag to use as a donor. The DMV inspector will come out and verify that everything is legit and as it should be. The body pieces are made by dynacorn and shipped right here to us @ C.A.R.S. Inc. and we jig everything up and weld the camaro bodies and ship them out to places like YearOne etc.

Re: Does anyone offer a NEW cab?
Hay here is an idea. I wish they would make new cabs. But I dont like fiberglass and I am sick of the steel rusting out so here is an idea. Why not make the cabs out of aluminum? Would not rust out and would offer good crash protection. Just a thought.

Re: Does anyone offer a NEW cab?
That Dynacorn outfit will soon introduce a brand new steel cab for the '47-'53 trucks. I wouldn't be surprised some day........
