Re: Small back window question

Sounds to me more like a Michael Jackson car (versus a Barrett Jackson)....
...Well it started out black....
.....then we swapped out the front clip....
........Removed any parts that stuck out....
...........then painted it white.........

Re: Small back window question

After I pressed him for pictures of all (4) Corners, Under The Hood and Interior, I saw that the Tailgate, there's a 24" GASH across the Paint where it's peeling up! (see attached picture).

That ain't paint...it's vinyl! And it's peeling off. Minitruck all the way.

Is that REALLY Vinyl!?
If so, please explain the process because it's News to me.

Thanks!

You've seen the graphics on NASCAR rides...that's not paint but a thin vinyl laser printed in color and attached just like a decal by floating it in water to align it then squeezing it down with a squeege. There is a temp sensitive glue on the back side so when the bubbles are worked out you hit it with a heat gun on a low setting.
Used it on a boat once...

These guys do it: http://www.skinzwraps.com

I think that truck was built by the PO's of my 67 stepside...Mickey and Goofy!
After looking at that roll pan, the graphics and the rear taillights I wonder what mickey mouse stuff was done to the drivetrain!

looks like this:

Re: Small back window question

OK, I bought a 1970 truck over 20 years ago from a local junkyard. It was a small rear window and had a PA reg. card and clean title in the glove box w/ vin and 1970 on it. When I went to get it registered at the DMV they rejected it. They stated and were correct that it was a 1967. After they reseached it they found it was owned by the local Chevy dealer and was not title until 1970 which was the practice in that time period. For me to title the truck they had to change the year to 1967 on the title. I've owned dozens of these trucks and can tell you the vin numbers don't lie only the sellers do. Check the frame by the steering box if you can't find the vin number look at the frame's top surface, take pictures and post them. See if the vin tag has been changed. BBO

Thats not the way they did things back then, that's just a mistake someone made on yours in 1970.

In California when you loose or the original plate is damaged you can go to the dmv and meet with a chp officer and get a replacement vin plate.

Re: Small back window question

It sounds like this is a case for Special-K. He is called upon by federal, state and local authorities in cases like these for his expert opinion. Let him review the information and you will know what you have.

Re: Small back window question

According to the PA DOT they title the truck the year it was sold/first time titled the same way my 1942 Ford Army jeep was titled as a 1951 the first year it was titled never being titled before. I also have a 67 Camaro RS/SS convertible that is titled as a Coupe. After a long battle with the DMV they will not change it, that is what PA titled it as back then but now they title them as a conv. Some states still do things wrong and some don't that doesn't change what they did wrong way back when. Vin codes do not lie my Jeep and my Camaro are what they are and the vin and trim tag proves it no matter what the states calls them.
