Re: Weird Edelbrock carb noise

I have tried useing the cardboard to choke out the carb, it just stalls the engine. Any other way to check for a leak without a gauge?

Re: Weird Edelbrock carb noise

Put the air cleaner back and make sure your using the air cleaners base gasket. then use some wd-40, spray a short shot of it on the carb around the linkages and ports, then the gasket areas, spray once and wait, did the rpm increase? spray again elsewhere and wait, did the idle increase? I normally like to use starting fluid but you need to be sure it dosn't get sucked thru the air cleaner.

I say now the engine has no vacuum leak, else it would have speeded up noticeably when you 'choked' the carb. Time to test for something else--not a vacuum leak. Did it run ok before changing to Edelbrock and distributor?
