1LoC10, what are you using to strip the paint? I need to do this project as well, but have never attempted any bodywork. Are you using a particular coarseness of sandpaper?

Thanks!

Re: Presure washer killed my paint

I hope you are using some self etching primer or epoxy, because if not that whole truck is gonna rust and rust FAST!!!!!!

I had some sanded down to metal spots on my monte carlo, drove it for about 3 months and it started rusting everywhere that went to bare metal, any place that was primer over paint was fine. I just used regular old spray gun primer, same as rattle can.

Epoxy primer protects the metal and so does self etching primer I'm told.

Re: Presure washer killed my paint

I just went to auto zone and bought a gallon of paint stripper... its like a gel, you put on with a paint brush.. waited till it bubled up and scraped it with a plastic scraper..... the primer is self etching and yes it is just a spray can...... i plan on having the truck paint this summer, and they will bring it back down to bare metal anyways

Re: Presure washer killed my paint

Looks pretty good for a rattle-can job. One color of primer looks better than 4 colors of actual paint.

Re: Presure washer killed my paint

Just think of the people's faces that saw the truck go into the car wash nice and shiney and then come out like that . I wonder if the car wash lost any business?
