Re: What is Your Most Ideal Parts Source?

I am currently looking for wheels, looking for a set of twisted vista 2, I am also having trouble getting the local tire shops to give me a competitive quote. It's going to be a 5k purchase here in Canada, I guess it's the whole tire kicker thing.

What he said.

I do pick and choose who to order which stuff from depending on what they do best. General parts I go to Classic Parts, easy to find what I want online and they ship quick, generally have everything I want.

ECE for suspension and brakes

Items where I know there is a wide variance in quality I'll go to GMC Paul or Classic heartbeat.

It's not where you order but how you order. You duck you head as you place the order, because you know you're about to get hit with a buck of sh*^!

My expectations are so low that I only order reproduction if I cannot make the original part work.

But to the question.

Three places that have treated me good lately, via products and entertaining phone questions..

Offroad Design.
Boyce.
Barns.
GMC Pauls.

I dont think I'll be ordering from them anymore if I can help it, I hate big business squashing the little guy over a few bucks, It would be different if they would order them from YOU for resale, that would help your business, but stealing YOUR $#!T, I dont agree with. Too bad you didnt have any patent or copywrite because You could sue them over design patent and they would have to pay you for every one they sell. But patents are sloppy, too easy to get around and too expensive.

Again, sorry To hear about this.

Re: What is Your Most Ideal Parts Source?

I always choose Classic Parts of America over LMC, they are both local to me, one (CPA) is so much better to deal with than the other its not funny.

I have over the last 10 years also used Classic Heartbeat, and GMC Pauls and have had nothing but top notch experiences.

Can't participate in your poll because you didn't put any of the good vendors in your list of choices.

Re: What is Your Most Ideal Parts Source?

LMC is the go to for a catalog. I wouldn't do anything else with them.

I have used several of the BB vendors and never a problem, always good stuff and service. I'm 20 miles or so from Modern Chevrolet and have never even stepped thru their door. I try to spend with Mom and Pop business wherever I can. I would choose any BB vendor over any of the others simply because they are people who know our trucks, love them and are truly perpetuating the hobby. I will say that GMC Paul has given me Tech support on parts I didn't even buy thru him, it's been so long ago I can't remember what it even was but I do know he was one of the first people I met on the BB and the first I ever spoke to. When we have resources like that to choose from, it's almost criminal to go elsewhere.

I'm not singling Paul out for any reason than that I do remember that. I've dealt with others but usually knew what I was getting and even if I hadn't dealt with them, I felt like I knew who I was dealing with.

In closing I'll just say that the bitterness of poor quality lasts long after the sweetness of poor quality is forgotten. And I've never gotten parts from any BB vendor that weren't the best available at the time.

Re: What is Your Most Ideal Parts Source?

I looked into the patent process, but it is long and expensive process and also no guarantee you will be awarded one. The money I make on one particular part wouldn't pay for the patent. I just didn't think a company in the united states would do this. Overseas they stab each other in the back all the time, but not here. WES

Re: What is Your Most Ideal Parts Source?

^ my thoughts exactly, China doesnt have any patent laws, so they can make anything they want and just say "It resembles nothing on this planet"

doesn't change the fact that I'm not going to them anymore.

Re: What is Your Most Ideal Parts Source?

Ive had bad experience with LMC. I look at their catalog, then order somewhere else if possible.
