Re: Door Hinge Stop / Check Pads
Here's a thread about replacing the friction pads and it looks like they didn't remove the doors or cut the roll pin.

I get that but I thought the hole ended up being smaller than 3/16? I guess I misunderstood.

Re: Door Hinge Stop / Check Pads
Also why is 67-72 Door: Friction Pads closed? That's strange, I don't see anything that went sideways.

Re: Door Hinge Stop / Check Pads
If you get the right tool, for the right job - sh*t will work!
TEKTON 3/16 Inch Roll Pin Punch #66066 off Amazon for $7.58 dollars. I also ordered a TEKTON 5/32 Inch Roll Pin Punch #66065 but its running late, it would have been useful pushing the later one back out. I'd image all these days soaking with Free-All has helped but I hammered it from the top and down out of the bottom. The 1st few hits I didn't think it was going to move but then it did. After that only a 5 or so hits. I was using a regular claw hammer, so it isn't very heavy. Using a nice ball ping hammer likely would have been better. Now to get the pads in but I'll do that tomorrow morning when it is cooler :-)

Re: Door Hinge Stop / Check Pads
Thanks guys for all the help and tips. No more floppy door - YAY Me!
I clearly was overthinking this project and worrying about how the split pin's hole reduced. If I had the right tool (3/16 Inch Roll Pin Punch) to begin with I doubt I would have been fussing with all my posts. Aside from not starting with the right punch, the hardest part is when the top pad fell into the door cavity. It fell in-between the outer skin and the tub (kind of like a seam) just far enough I could not reach / feel it with my hand. I ended up putting my snake camera into the door and using my magnetic stick to find it and to get it out. So Pro-Tip: don't let those pads drop into the door! The top pad is prone to fall out until you get the wedge in, because it needs to raised up by the wedge to be kept in place. Again, thanks for the help!

Re: Door Hinge Stop / Check Pads
Thanks - in hindsight it wasn't so bad. Though I'd image that pin could be a lot worse off in a lot of trucks, so perhaps I was a bit lucky.
For the record I did end up just reusing the pin that I pushed out. I seriously doubt I'll ever take it out again. I did clean it a bit and rubbed some grease on it.

Re: Door Hinge Stop / Check Pads
Hi, can you please explain further what you mean by "I also ordered a TEKTON 5/32 Inch Roll Pin Punch #66065 but its running late, it would have been useful pushing the later one back out." What does "later one back out" mean?

Re: Door Hinge Stop / Check Pads
When I hammered down the 3/16th punch down, it was a bit wedged in the hole(s) and I could not pull it out by hand. So I used a old drill bit and put it in the bottom hole (where the pin fell out) and hammered up to get the 3/16th punch out from the top.

Re: Door Hinge Stop / Check Pads
Is removing and installing the pads pretty straightforward? In the door.

I wasn't able to push the wedge very far by hand but I was able to get it far enough to use my 5/32 Inch Roll Pin Punch to mount it, then open the door, which pulled the wedge through the new pads. Using the 5/32 Inch Roll Pin Punch also lined everything up for the split pin. Then I hammered in my original split pin in with the 3/16 Inch Roll Pin Punch. I didn't use a heavy hammer, just a simple claw hammer. Oh, you may want to use a lot of Blue Tape anywhere/everywhere you think your hammer could hit if you miss or slip off the punch... I hope the above made sense, if not happy to follow on any questions.

Re: Door Hinge Stop / Check Pads
Thanks for that great info. It is especially good to know the correct tools to use. It would be good if a moderator could open the FAQ thread and put a link to this thread in, and re-close the FAQ thread. Good documentation.

Re: Door Hinge Stop / Check Pads
FYI: I put a summary into my 1st post, just in case someone finds this later and doesn't have to read all the fluff posts as I figured things out.
