Re: new wheel tire choice?

ok now you guys got me all wet on wide stock rallies

My buddy just had some 17's cut for his 66 ford p/u he needed to have the offset changed and made wider ( 8" to 10") because of front brake rubbing issues I gave him a quick call he said he had about $100 or so in each wheel.....still cheap $$$ for a custom wheel maybe I wil look into having my stockers cut and widened then hit with a rattle can...I can keep that old school look and still snaek a fatty under the rear.....

any Ideas what the best offset is and how wide I could go?? maybe a tire size......Dam I hate you guys for making me thin about this...Hmmmmmmm.....rally wheels $25 at the swap meets custom fab work $100...wide tires on the back of your rat rod....priceless!!

Re: new wheel tire choice?

Everyone seems to be running them, but Coy's look pretty slick
and with the new offsets the offer you could have a really deep
rear wheel if you cut just a little (My 81 on Chrome 20/22's)

*Available in all Chrome, Polished, Grey centers, & Black centers

hmm..yeah i do really like the coys... and they're a really good price as well... but again... i'm not sure i want something that alot of people have. ...but in all reality, every rim mass produced is mass produced for a reason...

Centerline has these in 22" for 189.00 each. You could paint the centers ..

Re: new wheel tire choice?

I'll have to agree with N2TRUX & as a owner of a yet to be cut 78 steppy the oversized rallies DON'T go with the rest of your ride. They did on the K5 cause his truck was a 2 tone stock appearing vehicle ....... yours is already over the top body wise. Go with the 5 spoke wheels.

menace-I'll pm you my email address. Send me the best and biggest pictures that you have and I'll see what I can do. Gimme some time though. I don't even know when I'll start right now. I wish I had photoshop at work. I wouldn't get anything done.

ehman-Do you mind if I try a couple things with your truck? I don't mind the chops of the rallies. I don't normally love that design wheel, but that last set looks like they belong on the truck.

No offense to anyone-just being honest-I do understand the attraction, but I admit it. I'm tired of seeing Coys on everything. But then again, I am kinda tired of seeing TT2s on everything. And TT2s look better! Hey, I'm also tired of looking at Camaros and Chevelles.

Even if steemin_ehman doesn't build them, somebody needs to get a big set of rallies for me to drool over.

i totally agree... thats why im looking for a way to be different. I may build the wheels anyway, out of curiosity, and the need to be different lol. if they really dont suit my truck, im sure i'd be able to get rid of them, maybe even make a little profit, to put towards some rushforth/coddington/foose or somethin a little more rare. if they DIDN'T work, who'd be interested in some custom rally wheels? -probably 20" front and rear, 8-9.5" wide in the front, and 10-12" wide in the rear. (with proper backspacing for stock track widths of course)

-jdurant, go hard with some photochoppin! i need more ideas!!! (..or inspiration) and which set were the last set you are referring to? the rushforth? or the last set of rallys?

thank-you for the compliment! the front bumper on my truck is actually the rear "bumper section" of a 89-98 chevy box, and some custom rolled steel. Dad'n i designed and built 'er. it was loads of fun, but alot of hours involved. heres a link to pics of the front roll-pan build-up: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2461475/2

I was refering to the split five spoke Rushforths.

I agree that if you made the rallies, and didn't like them, then you would have no problem getting rid of them for atleast what you've got in them, especially if you don't have to pay for machining . The only thing that worries me about you getting rid of them is the cost of shipping. Because I haven't the slightest where SK is.

Send me some big pics too. I've got a couple of ideas.

lol yes, that is very correct. Saskatchewan is a province in Canada, right north of Montana and North Dikota. and no, we do not live in igloo's, or say "eh" at the end of every sentence. ...regardless that my last name is "ehman (ee-man)" lol

that is another thought of mine, only using the "smoothies" as a starting point. however, i dont think very many options are available regarding offsets and widths. this is affecting my overall decision!

Re: new wheel tire choice?

I had a photoshop session tonight. I used one of your chops to start with.

This is the Rushforth Fuel that I originally posted

This is a kenisis wheel. They are real pricey, but I like them alot. There are similiar cheaper wheels.

Then I just got carried away. But I had to see.

I think I like this paint scheme the best. I will have to look at it some more tomorrow.

I think I did this more for me.

There are a couple of other things I wanna look at, but I gotta get to bed.
