Rear end / mpgs

Im working on a 71 and it has a 350 with a turbo 350. Currently the rear end is a 3.73. What im concerned with is that when im on the highway, the engine will be sitting at at-least 3000 rpm. Any recommendations for ways to improve this? im not really concerned with towing or drag racing. Id much rather have my engine running low and efficient than screaming. Any suggestions? should i get like a 3.08 or 3.54 rear end? Would like some thoughts.
