Thank you. I am not going to lie though. I got it all cut, fitted and tacked, but my buddy has the skills with the welder.

Re: My Blue 1957 build

I brought the truck back home today. Had it dyno tuned. Runs smooth now. Got my new e-brake cables and my radiator overflow. Need to get them installed. Waiting on bed wood and strips so i can get that all squared away and get the fuel door in place. Definitely nice to have it home again.

Looks good.
What is your concern with the rocker cover clearance?

I wouldn't worry about that gap. The passenger side will be a little closer anyway.

Re: My Blue 1957 build

nice looking welds, simple motor mounts, i like it.
if your concerned that the firewall gap is too far,
throw your core support and radiator in to see if you have room for a fan.

typically these trucks have the motor to far forward, most of the motor is over the front axle.
the further back you have the motor, the better your weight distribution.
offsetting your motor mounts over the x-member moves your weight back.

i moved my motor back as far as i could, approx 3/4'' clearance to the valve covers.
there are 2 big plugs out the back of the distributor that i had to box the hump for.

also gave me lots of room up front for the fan

Re: My Blue 1957 build

i am going to order the smooth one piece motor cover from street and performance and see how it looks the. Right now the drivers side gap is at 2". i think the gap just looks big because i have the motor mounted low. Only about 1-1/4" gap between pan and the crossmember. the pan does not hang below the crossmember though on the backside.
