Looks like they stretched the wheel wells to make them fit and looks more right, the front fender looks like its of a truck that's been sectioned like they did in the 50's. It's a good looking truck but not my taste.

I like big wheels. A set of 22/24s, aired out, is just fine with me but there is a limit to how big you can go without just being plain silly about it. A really nice looking truck but 26s or 28s just make it look cartoonish. Its one thing to bash, its another to express a honest opinion on styling.

Personally I find it kind of sad that a concept that was intended to improve handling has been perverted into being so over done that it renders a vehicle virtually undrivable. +1, +2 etc sizing was intended to reduce tire flex by reducing sidewall height and make room for larger brakes so you could brake later into turns. I was using +2 sizes on cars in the early '80s long before it had anything to do with bling. To go to the extreme that you end up with a wheel so heavy and a sidewall so short that you really can't do much of anything. A fast turn will peel the tire off the rim, a pot hole will bust the bead, you have to regulate pressure with nitrogen, and all this for a look that just looks ridiculous. It's like the maintenance of a stripper with the looks of a clown. It's a look I simply don't understand, I put this in the same category as the poofy landau tops, Stutz pipes and Continental kits, but hey to each his own.

I think they call them "Donks". It was a fad in socal for awhile. I still see one every once in a while. Usually on an 82 buick regal or something. or el caminos.

What can be really scary is the person that might choose to do this and not make the required brake upgrade. This is such a huge increase in rolling mass that is can easily cause a factory brake setup to fail under heavy braking. That wheel/tire combo must weight a ton.

Actually I saw more of these in Florida than I've ever seen in So Cal, and I live in So Cal. There was even rent-to-own rim shops in Florida which I thought was hilarious.

The unsprung weight strain on the spindles and axles, the fact that you'd need bearings the size of most of our brakes to make this safe, you'd have to have a bead 2 inches thick just to safely hold the tire on those rims under any kind of cornering force, the gyroscopic effect of wheels like that with the center of mass so far out to the edge makes it nearly impossible to change the direction of momentum at any kind of speed... I wouldn't want that vehicle within 50 yards of anything I'm driving.

Not to mention burning up a transmission if it has anything under a 4:56 gear in it....

i like it but yes i would probably go with 24's the biggest on these trucks but hey looks better then riding on 15's!

Those are really good point I didn't even think of because I still love the old school 15" wheels. I like SIDEWALL on my tires. Don't get me wrong.....17" or 18" can look sick when done right but that's about it for me.

yea, i'm getting where i don't even want a shiney wheel in my old age (30) i like steelies and caps and rallies painted any color 15'' of course. My wife said when we started her 67 i got to have shiney wheels on it...... what did it end up with? aqua painted ralleys 15's are timeless not so long ago it was the small wheel trend car looking like go-karts it will change.

In LA the number of vehicles with big rims and sidewalls less than 4 inches or so is going away fast, I'd say that fad is already played out here. A few years ago there was lots of that stuff here and lots of chrome "DUB" emblems on the fenders and trunks. You still see it still but nowhere near as much.
