Re: 1963 GMC C30 panel truck
The latch turned out awesome and so did the first barn door hinge. Used custom turned brass bushings and shoulder bolts for the pin. Tough enough to last another 50 years hahaha

Re: 1963 GMC C30 panel truck
Got it down to about 4hrs per hinge, with all the fit and finish filing. 5 down, 3 to go!

Re: 1963 GMC C30 panel truck
Progress! I have been back on the panel here and there. Where does the time go in the summer? I have the barn door hinges complete, they turned out awesome and glide super nice with the brass bushings.

Referbished the licence plate light. The rubber gasket was in good shape, cleaned up the lens and housing. Changed out the conventional bulb for a LED panel.

Re: 1963 GMC C30 panel truck
The drivers side door in cleaned up and mounted. Still have to do the sheet metal work on the doors. The hinge adjuster plates on the door are frozen and need some persuasion. Some sheet metal work to be done, it's in really great shape for its age.

Re: 1963 GMC C30 panel truck
Removed the dents, welded a couple of holes closed and removed the rust on the inside door panel. The whole truck, inside and out, will be white and Neptune green. White top and green from the window line down. White along the recessed line on the interior and the rest will be Neptune green with grey upholstery. Working towards installing the drive line, sealing off the cab, addressing the rust and getting the truck on the road. Paint may have to wait.

More parts that need attention plus a couple of front doors I picked up in Chilliwack.

Re: 1963 GMC C30 panel truck
First blood hahaha, mashed her with the 4lb sledge. Does anyone know a good trick for getting out stubborn body mount bolts? The long lag bolts are seized in the steel collars in the rubber mounts .

Re: 1963 GMC C30 panel truck
Ouch! That looks painful. Do you have access to a torch to warm the body bolts? Heat usually helps.

Re: 1963 GMC C30 panel truck
Refurbished the steering wheel. Wouldn't mine hitting it with some more paint. Anyone have some good suggestions what to finish it with?
