Then again airbags for the rear to load up the bike easier? the possibilities are endless.

Re: 1967 cst I picked up today

50 bomb not a bad idea. I should have all 4 new tires on tomorrow. It all depends on finding 2 wheels to go on the rear. A local yard has a few, but they seemed a little steep in price. I called all my feelers today and came up with nothing. I studied the yellow paint today for a while. I'm goin for it. I will fake in spots that come up not blue. I think it's gonna be worth the work.

Now you are seeing why I was so jazzed about it being a 508 Dark Blue with the Blue CST trim! :-)

Hey Tim, would this truck have the Bowie 10 on the front fenders like a standard trim level truck ?

Re: 1967 cst I picked up today

Leroy-b1, I'm using 150 wet dry to knock down the top layer then I'm using 600. You gotta be really careful. I'm gonna switch to a finer grit when I continue. The 150 may be too aggressive, but it works good to get in and knock down a lot of paint quick..

Nothing really new. New tires, removing unnecessary wiring, general cleanup. There is so much desert sand in this thing it's insane!!!

Re: 1967 cst I picked up today

The engine and bay is the worst part about the truck. Someone at some time thought it would be cool to spray paint the rad support, the cap to the master and the brake booster a bright red color. Not to mention the finned valve covers and pep boy air cleaner!!!

Re: 1967 cst I picked up today

Rick, no good pics yet of engine and interior. Still tryin to get it cleaned up. I have been working on the paint while waiting for parts. I drove it to the arco swap today. Runs really good, but at idle it starts to break up and die. The q jet is filthy and in dire need for some attention. I scored these wheel covers for it today and here is a shot of the roof portion waiting for final polish..

cant wait to see more pics once the whole truck is blue! One of my current builds is a 67 GMC cst 327/TH400 factory 508 blue. Looks like our trucks are brothers (one chevy one gmc)

I have been workin on it pretty heavily lately. The paint removal is time consuming. Oven cleaner has been the best method.

Re: 1967 cst I picked up today

I always ask whenever buying anything. I assume you are reffering to the AIR stuff? I am replacing the driver front fender as of today. I found 2 keys unused in an old hide a key under the fender in the engine compartment side. I thought that was pretty neat.
Posted via Mobile Device someone had mentioned an interior shot. Here is one I have from last weekend cleaning up the inside a bit.

Whoa, I'm dense and must have missed this in your thread...Are you removing a layer of paint to expose the original paint underneath? How are you doing that - spraying on the oven cleaner and letting it soak and then scrubbing? How long do you let it soak? What are you using to scrub off the paint?

My truck has a bad repaint job covering up the original paint and I would love to take it off. Interested in your thoughts and how you're doing it.

Thanks, and cool truck!

It's actually 2 layers of paint. First I started with wet sanding using pretty aggressive grit. Then finishing it off with finer. The oven cleaner is the best way to go. I spray on in a square foot of so and let it sit for 30 mins. Then I just get the edge of a putty knife under it and it just comes off .
