Re: stepside

im working on a 70 short stepper! its a slow process but almost have the bed done except for the last fender. it was a mess after media blasting it but after some hammer and dollying, some welding, and some filler its starting to look like a fender again! ive got a rustfree drivers side fender i got from a friends attic finished, and the dash cluster and underdash wiring sorted out as well! its a start but have lots more to go, would like to say thank you to this site for all the information ive gathered along the way! guess i should head to the shop and keep plugging away!

Re: stepside

I have two steppers.. One with the spare tire side (68), one without. (69)

I like the fleets too though. I think one of the big things about the fleets is you can get a lot more tire under them to run drops, or bigger wheel / tire combos.

For me, the stepsides win though. Just my .02. Something about the chains on the tailgate and just the overall look of a stepside I guess. I have wanted one since I was a little boy.

Re: stepside

My 68 is the 20th truck I've owned. I have only had a few fleets though. I think the steps are sportier, and the fleets more useful. I also think it's about 3 times harder to restore a step bed! Here's my 2:

Re: stepside

Another with the spare. Along with the fender...there's nobody making the mount. I got lucky with mine on the 'bay for $9 and just had to make the brackets to mount it to the truck.
